American investment monolith BlackRock has removed a 2022 advert that includes images of Donald Trump’s would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Crooks, 20, was killed by a Secret Service sniper after he opened fire at a Trump campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, injuring the former president and two others, and killing one person.

A BlackRock spokesperson confirmed that Crooks had appeared in the ad in a statement to the New York Times.
‘In 2022, we ran an ad featuring a teacher from Bethel Park High School, in which several unpaid students briefly appeared in the background, including Thomas Matthew Crooks’, the spokesperson said.
‘We will make all video footage available to the appropriate authorities, and we have removed the video from circulation out of respect for the victims.
‘BlackRock strongly condemns political violence of any kind and will do our part to promote civility and unity in the country.’

It looks like him to me, down to the same glasses, acne and even the black hoodie.
It does look like him. On the other hand, I’ve been stopped in the street twice by people who were certain they knew me when we were total strangers. Dopplelgangers, body-doubles.
No question that there really are crisis actors out there; just don’t wonder out loud and too persistently about them being at any particular event, or your life will be ruined.
One witness at the Trump shooting said of the shooter, “I saw them blow his head off.” Yet the ‘corpse’ has very little blood on his hair. If he was shot from the back, wouldn’t he have no face left? And why are his eyes closed and so puffy? Where are his front teeth — covered in dried blood and other matter, or blown away? There will be a coroner’s report eventually, I suppose.

Since it is him, one could wonder if he developed an interest in acting as a result of being in the commercial, or in becoming a star someday in some way. But to use a gun when you know you can’t shoot straight…!
