FAA Authorizes Zipline to Make Drone Deliveries Beyond Operator’s Line of Sight

September 20th, 2023

Via: Zipline:

Today the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorized Zipline to make commercial deliveries beyond visual line of sight without visual observers – a milestone the entire industry has worked to achieve for years. For more than a decade, even the most advanced long-range drone deliveries in the U.S. required visual observers, stationed on the ground along a route, to watch the sky during the delivery. This historic decision will help enable broad integration of autonomous aircraft into the U.S. national airspace and make commercial drone delivery scalable and affordable.

That is the most inspiring thing I’ve seen in a very long time; on multiple levels. Watched the entire video. The Jetsons’ reprisal. Thanks for posting this (thanks for FINDING this).

Now back to the regularly scheduled program of turning California into the Rwanda of thirty years ago…

Thanks for the link here, Kevin. I just made an investment in Zipline a few weeks ago, and this video just confirmed how great of a company they are.
