March Contributions

April 2nd, 2007

Cryptogon and Farmlet readers made March an incredible month for contributions. Total earnings came to $975.24. That includes $5.90 in AdBrite earnings.

That total is just shy of double the monthly goal of $500! Many thanks to all of you.

We had four Blue Host web hosting signups in March. Blue Host continues to amaze me with what they provide for $6.95 per month. Cryptogon activity is now well within the non-trivial range, and Blue Host has been excellent. (Recent denial of service attack survival story.) Farmlet traffic is increasing as well. Each Blue Host account is capable of hosting six completely separate domains. Both Cryptogon and Farmlet are hosted on the same exact hosting package that readers are signing up for here.

Amazon activity was also very heavy in March. This was the best month for Amazon commissions ever. Product purchases ranged from a used copy of Spider’s Web: The Secret History of How the White House Illegally Armed Iraq (excellent book, by the way), all the way up to a Ladycomp (mentioned here). It all adds up!

I started posting some of the items that people are buying in the Store; the logic being that other Cryptogon readers might have similar interests. Cryptogon readers order some far out stuff, man. If you’re curious, check it out.

Thanks also to readers in Germany who remembered to get their Amazon goods via Cryptogon. Below are the links to all of the Amazon sites that I have an affiliate relationship with. If you live in the U.S., Canada, UK, Germany or France, please remember to begin your session on Amazon via these links.

They are always posted in the Store for future reference.

Thanks again!

    Congratulations, Kevin.

Are the Amazon earnings on the right automatically or manually updated? Do I need to worry if I placed an order via your website and the numbers did not change?

This is Kevin’s cow. Tell him to get his
butt off the internet and build me and the
    girls our shed. MOOOOOO

I update the totals manually. Amazon only updates the “Associate” data once every 24 hours, and their system doesn’t award the commissions to me until the items ship. The lag from when you order something that’s in stock to when I see it on my earnings report is at least 48 hours. Longer if you order something from a third party, or something that doesn’t ship right away.

Right now, there are about a dozen items that have been ordered, but not shipped.

That was a long way of saying: The commission from your purchase will probably be credited to me accurately.

    Thanks for your support,
    Kevin

Re: That cow shed… Oh man. We’re going to try to get Becky’s brother to help us. He’s a competent builder. I’m afraid that my building skills are limited to chicken coop scale projects. This milking shed has to be done properly. It’s the rare gust of wind that has me worried. Most of the time, it’s very calm here. But, on occasion… Holy *@&#, the wind gets very strong. If that roof isn’t done right…

A guy with a bulldozer is going to pay us a visit soon to level the site and dig our pond/dam.

The nights are getting colder and those cows are getting fatter. That shed is pretty much on my mind all the time now.
