5G + AI

SAN FRANCISCO — Qualcomm launched a $100 million venture fund at an event here where the level of enthusiasm for machine learning ran high. China’s SenseTime alone talked about taking in $3 billion for its platform, and others gave examples of AI quadrupling productivity and saving lives.
The combination of 5G and AI is central to Qualcomm’s corporate strategy in the wake of its failed merger with NXP and slowing smartphone growth. The combination of the two technologies will expand the company’s addressable market to a smart internet of things, said chief executive Steve Mollenkopf.
Kevin, apologies for the lack of research in this area. It is difficult to keep up. My nascent understanding suggests 5G is unhealthy as hell. But, what isn’t, so, why? I read somewhere (disclaimer/excuse for myriad lunacy) that 5G might cut through a high cosmic ray environment; read Grand Solar Minimum. Hence, potential positive (however tenuous). What’s your take, if you don’t mind me asking.
My initial take on 5G is that it looks like an omnidirectional implementation of a directed energy weapon that we’ve seen in the past, see example Active Denial System:

Look at the frequencies involved with both technologies. Lower power, of course. *wink* Don’t worry. Nothing to see here, obviously.
As for the actual motivation behind this: I have no idea. Sure, they want it for the obvious/stated reasons, but that can’t be it. As for which woowoo theories to believe about it, I’ve heard everything from mind control to aliens.
About a half hour’s drive from me, I saw that a 5G mast just went up in the last week or so. I was going to post it, but I wondered, does anyone even care anymore? It’s happening all over the place, not just remote parts of NZ.
That is ugly. Worse than the terahertz scanners and on towers, omnipresent. Tinfoil hats need to become tinfoil teepees. Thanks.
