Blair, His Catholic Assistant… And Their New Yale Office Near Her Opus Dei Father’s Office

January 4th, 2009

Tony Blair, who has recently converted to Catholicism, is teaching classes on “Faith and Globalization” at Yale. Meanwhile, the former Nazi Youth member and Sith Lord look-a-like Pope just said that the financial crisis should be seen as a “test-case” about the future of globalization.

What do you guys make of this situation? I mean, do they all show up to the tomb for evening cocktails and to hang out with the Brotherhood of Death folks? You know, for a bit of interfaith fellowship and revelry?

I don’t specialize in the occult side of our… predicament, if you will, but there is an occult side to it. Besides this Tony-Blair-As-Catholic thing being one of the greatest piss takes of all time, I also find it both baffling and interesting.

Anyone who thinks that Tony Blair believes in Heaven and Hell and Jesus and the Trinity—and whatever else Catholics and Christians believe in—is a flat out dip shit. The question is: What does he actually believe? Does he simply think that religion is a convenient way of spreading the globalist mind virus? Or is there something more to it? And why has he now formally associated himself with the oldest mafia organization on the planet, the Catholic Church? Yeah, yeah, his wife is a Catholic, yeah, yeah. I know.

The whole thing about Ruth Turner, Blair’s assistant, who’s dad is a “former” member of Opus Dei and just happens to be “down the hall” (so to speak), at Yale University, from the former Prime Minister of Britain…

This makes Dan Brown seem like an anonymous foilhead over at ATS, or some similar venue.

Seriously, people, what gives?

Some of you know a great deal about religions and especially Illuminism and the Catholic church. If you have something to add, by all means, let it rip.

Via: Daily Mail:

Tony Blair is setting up an American office for his religious charity in a move that sheds new light on his close links with Ruth Turner, his controversial former Downing Street aide.

Ms Turner, 38, who was at the heart of the cash-for-honours inquiry in 2006 and 2007, was chosen by the former Prime Minister last spring to run his new Tony Blair Faith Foundation.

It has become a highly lucrative vehicle for the ex-premier, concentrating its activities at America’s Yale University, where Mr Blair teaches a course on ‘faith and globalisation’ – and where Ms Turner’s British-born father, Denys, is a theology professor.

Yale, which is one of America’s top three universities, has paid the foundation more than £127,000 since it appointed Mr Blair as its Howland Distinguished Fellow.

A recent posting on the foundation’s website announced that ‘a small team of staff’ will be based on the campus to ‘extend the [foundation’s] reach across North America’.

Yale maintains that Mr Blair’s post has nothing to do with Ms Turner’s father. But yesterday the university confirmed that the foundation’s office will be in the picturesque neo-Georgian divinity school complex, where Ms Turner’s father is based.

The foundation insists it wants to promote understanding between world religions. But The Mail on Sunday has been told that several of its key figures are Catholics.

Mr Blair converted to Catholicism in 2007 with his wife Cherie, a Catholic, as his sponsor. It is less well known that it is a faith he shares with Ms Turner and her father. Sources close to the Blairs say that Ms Turner was one of the figures in whom Mr Blair confided as he decided whether to convert to Catholicism.

Professor Turner is a prominent writer and scholar who once described himself as a ‘Marxist Catholic’. And intriguingly he is a former member of Opus Dei, a conservative Catholic lay organisation shrouded in mystery with rituals that include wearing a cilice – a spiked chain strapped around the thigh.

Author Dan Brown is accused of exaggerating its alleged secretive sadomasochistic practices in his best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code. According to Catholic magazine The Tablet, Professor Turner was a member of Opus Dei for eight years and faced threats that he would ‘lose his soul’ when he left.

The magazine said that Professor Turner believed Opus Dei ‘traded on the instinct which Catholics had for obedience, exercised a kind of mind control and cultivated a psychology of dependence’.

The article continued: ‘He des-cribes leaving as a catastrophic experience for him and was told he would lose his soul over it.’

Ms Turner accompanied Mr Blair to Yale last month for his seminars on faith and globalisation. And breaking her silence about her association with him for the first time, she contributed to an article about him in New York magazine.

Speaking warmly about Mr Blair’s devotion to the new charity, she declared: ‘You can make the case extremely convincingly for why religion is an absolutely terrible thing, and you’ll be right in every respect. Except for the fact that it’s not only like that and, anyway, it’s not going to go away.’

She disclosed that she is so close to him she can predict his choice of clothing when he visits his old haunts in the North-East of England. ‘Whenever he goes back, it’s fantastic,’ she said gushingly. ‘He wears a tracksuit all day.’

Ms Turner was born in Dublin in 1970 and spent her childhood moving between university towns as her father’s career took off. He was a professor of theology at Cambridge before his appointment at Yale.

She is a committed socialist and launched the Northern version of Big Issue magazine, where she earned a formidable reputation for using her charm to raise big sums of money from businesses. It was when she joined Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee in 2000 that she caught the eye of Mr Blair, who promptly recruited her to No 10. A former Downing St aide said: ‘Ruth is clever, sexy and has a sparkling personality. Everybody loved her at No 10. Underneath it all, she is very tough, but she has this delicate vulnerable look that makes you want to put your arm round her.’

Ms Turner worked 18-hour days at Downing Street, often reporting directly to Mr Blair.
He displayed fierce loyalty to her when she was arrested and quizzed by police in the cash-for-honours row, and took the unusual step of issuing a statement defending her. ‘Ruth is a person of the highest integrity for whom I have great regard and I continue to have complete confidence in her,’ he said.

After being cleared in the scandal, Ms Turner remained loyal to Mr Blair. When he left No 10 in 2007, she was top of the list of Downing Street staff he wanted to take with him.

Professor Turner told The Mail on Sunday that he had gone to great lengths to avoid any connection to Mr Blair’s activities at Yale. ‘I have been careful to be sure that my relationship with Ruth is kept entirely out of the way of her professional relationship with Tony Blair,’ he said.

Explaining why he left Opus Dei, Professor Turner said: ‘I moved in a pendulum-like way into a rather opposed position politically and eventually the pendulum settled down in the middle somewhere.

‘I am a Catholic, but I wouldn’t describe myself as a Marxist now. I’ve been through that phase and came out of it at the other end.’

A spokesman for Mr Blair said yesterday: ‘Professor Turner is a highly respected member of the [Yale] faculty but he had no role in establishing the partnership between Yale and the foundation.’

Asked about the foundation’s expansion plans and whether Catholicism played a role in it, his spokesman drew attention to an article on its website, which said: ‘As Prime Minister of Britain, Tony Blair was officially an Anglican. Unofficially, though, he was a practising Roman Catholic.’

It goes on to quote Mr Blair as saying: ‘My wife’s Catholic, my kids are brought up as Catholics, I’ve been going to mass for 25 years,’ and it comments: ‘In a way, Blair’s foundation is the culmination of his life as a double agent.’

Malachi Martin is your man for Vatican tin. Of course, he died a semi-mysterious death in ’99. Start here if you’re interested: http://www.priestsofdarkness.com/martin.html

As a Vatican insider he was surely privy to some things but who knows what’s true and what’s BS in his writings.

I can’t bring much to this conversation, but I love this: “…where Mr Blair teaches a course on ‘faith and globalisation’”. It reminds me of the freaks in “Beneath the Planet of the Apes” who worshiped a bomb. What’s next, “Why God prefers Capitalism” and “The IMF: God’s Monetary Instrument on Earth”?

I’ve been told that Jon Rappoport’s The Secret Behind Secret Societies sheds some light on the inner workings of the catholic church. If anyone has read it, I’m curious to have a review.

In an interview (maybe an audio file with the same name) I think I heard him state that the Jezuits are the ones to watch.

Of course there is an occult side to our ‘predicament.’ As a matter of fact, by their mysterious practices with the occult, the illuminati show that they are *not* atheists. They have simply made a decision to win some battles and lose the war. They avail themselves of occult tools toward that end.

The article looks like a hegelian lure to the left. Opus Dei (right) thus must play the bad guys. Please go left toward socialism. Thank you. World religion — very nice. Blend them all together — make it all perfectly meaningless.

Also, it would seem to me that you can be a *former* member of Opus Dei just like you can be a *former* member of the intelligence community. You sell your soul to get in, perhaps your life to get out; as the poor little lambies find out too late.

That Tony Blair has become a Catholic does not surprise me. To turn to a religion that claims you will “go to heaven” if you “confess and absolve yourself” of your sins. Oh my.
Heh.heh.heh. Wonder who gave Tony the Sacrament of his First Confession? And what did they hear? Oh to be a fly on the wall for that one!
“I lied about Iraq; I’m a closet queer for George Bush?” I had people murdered who were trying to tell the truth about my lie, e.g Kelly, etc., etc, etc.”

I grew up in the Byzantine Catholic Church – one of the few Eastern European Rites that actually allowed their priests to marry. Something very close to Paganism in this rite. After all, the people who belonged to this sect where dirt poor farmers that were very close to the land they tended. But I guess during the sixties when all hell broke loose with the rules we folded into the Roman Catholic Church. And now the Byzantine Rite is struggling to break free of Rome, but do you think they’ll let them go? Hell will freeze over first.

When I look at the Catholic Church now with the eyes of a child/adult all I see is corruption. Money, murder, mayhem. What disturbs me: the absolutely ridiculous posture of the church that forbids contraception (we need the slaves to run our machine); the lack of any real solution to the pedophile issue – comon. Pay out millions in lawsuits but not CHANGE ANYTHING to prevent further pedophiles from developing; asking (eg requiring)te poor in South America or around the world for that matter, to tithe 10% of their income to the church when the Holy See in Rome sits on the biggest HOARD of GOLD and stolen antiquities that would boggle the mind if a full accounting was given?
Yes, I am letting it rip.
And yes, if what was once an important part of my life were not so tainted by all of this crap, and if you could look beyond all their sins, which I can’t anymore, this might be a good thing for Tony Blair. But Tony Blair is not going to escape his next turn on the wheel by doing this.
Yeah Tony, I don’t think there is a spiritual God who is going to let you OFF for all of your murderous ways. What was it I read to my Mom this morning? Uh, I think you are going to be “Returned to Sender” when you die (if not sooner)to come back to the hell you created in this world.
I think more that you should become like Gandhi and wear a loincloth and march through Iraq doing penance of some sort for the people there. Perhaps that way you might find some salvation. But joining the Catholic Church and boinking the daughter (that’s what this smells like to me) of a “formerly” Opus Dei? Who “gives” to your foundation.
    Oh my effing gawd.
I think it is waaay too late for Tony Blair to be shrouding himself in “holiness.”
And @Marlena – that link was good but it made me sick to my stomach. The NAMES! Makes me wonder who exactly it is these people pray to when they say the prayer “Our Father.”

Religious integration is occurring, humanity is being set up with a global theocracy. The fusion centers for this new elemental structure are political and are very little discussed.

Windows have recently been opened however, since of course it’s going global certain characteristics are now coming into media view.

I’ll share a little story. I doesn’t matter what you make of it, just make something.

By means I won’t get into, I left my current reality and found myself in an alternate world. The experience was initially dreamlike, it was very ephemeral. I was in an ornate bathroom, though details were not clear until I raised my head into what was the bathroom mirror. As I looked at the figure in the mirror my consciousness came full thrust into the bathroom.

I had landed in this alternate reality.

The vividness and detail of the reality I found myself in was shocking in its clarity. The face that stared at me in the mirror was pallid, weak in a way that only could be described as subdued. There was a window in the bathroom, I noticed it because the drapery was blowing slightly from an open window. I walked over to the window and looked out. It was night time and the scene that met my eye was a city-scape that I have never seen before or since, it was much vaster in size than anything we currently have on earth. It was almost like a shot from Bladerunner, but not quite, a little more nuanced, almost Gotham style.

In the center of this vast city is a huge building, adorned with the largest bright glowing Cross your imagination could conjure, it stole the skyscape in its monumental stature.

I was awe struck with unease and dread and the condition I found myself in felt more and more oppressive. I then turned my attention to my immediate surroundings, the sensation of buzzing all pervasive. ‘The bathroom door is ajar (I believe)’ and I open it, I walk into a brightly lit and elaborately adorned apartment. I hear sounds to my right, I notice flashing, it’s a television the size of the wall. I hear a voice calling out, just then my ‘wife’ comes walking around a wall and immediately notices something about me. I can tell by her expression.

She quickly moves towards a door directly across from the bathroom, opens it and enters in. In a matter of seconds she emerges wearing a mask, a damn freaky mask, gory and disturbing. She’s shrieking in my direction with this mask and then runs straight towards me. From sheer terror I lose my conscious connection to the alternate reality and ‘wake up’.

I now know that this alternative reality was a future time, which corresponds in some way to our current time period.

I recall finding not long after an odd piece of video from the eighties with Frank Zappa on a panel show ‘Cross Fire’. In it he describes a theocratic tyranny that is taking hold of America. The pieces began to fall together after that…

-Be prepared for another ‘Holocaust’ in the same vein as WW2, a replica only with much larger media penetration. This event will be the basis for future law and will be enshrined as holy decree.

-Please do not discount a Return of Jesus scenario using high technology dramatized by beings not of this world. You will be making a big mistake to underestimate the value of shock therapy to the molding of human consciousness. All major religions on earth have been seeded with a ‘return syndrome’. Many are awaiting the returning Lord, the returning Prophet and Wise Elders.

reading ‘anothernut‘s phrases, i was curious what Google would cough up for the second one, the first being generally familiar to me as the wave of ‘Prosperity Gospel’ many mega-churches currently spew, nurture, and collectively inculcate (“The Bidnezz Of Bidnizz Is Bidnizz”)

One of the first hits in the list, unsurprisingly, was Alex Jones.

“The Family”… Wow. That is some terrifying stuff. It reminded me of a Jesus Freak version of Fight Club.

  10. thucydides says:

My question: how far back does this go? If you spin the clock hands around and around to, say, four centuries ago in London, is this merely a continuation of the same conflict between Protestants on one hand (Walsingham and Cecil under Elizabeth I and James I) and Catholics (led by Philip II and Philip III of Spain) on the other? And lest anyone forget, the Catholics had the Inquisition, and the Protestants had the first modern spy service under Walsingham and the Star Chamber, later made even more infamous during the English Civil Wars.

Taking history as a guide, you can expect all sorts of fantastic accusations and counter-accusations, fear-mongering stereotypes and bogeymen in leaflets and pamphlets and books and blogs.

@es (comment #3 above): I agree, keep an eye on the Jesuits.

Any organization which can survive as long as the Catholic Church or its constituent orders should not be considered lightly.

  11. Angelo says:

The Catholic Church has been the center of world control since their confiscation of the Gnostic Jesus story about 1000 years ago (not 2000 years ago as portrayed by modern ‘historians’). In the cosmically inverted image which is our social structure the Jesuits are the army of the ‘antichrist’, the most pervasive and powerful intelligence agency in the world. Their tentacles reach into everything.

The Church is not secondary, it controls Zionism and it authored the Humanistic theology of the UN Manifesto. The cloak of the Jesuits has been known, Hans Kolvenbach, etc. but the true agents are unseen.

Here is a thread that deals with the periphery of the Jesuit Structure and its connection with Homeland Security.

  12. anothernut says:

@Zuma: Come, brother/sister, be one with the Church of the Almighty Dollar…

@thucydides: I will take a shot at answering that, employing the God/Satan metaphor and all it’s implications. God is the source of goodness, and inspires harmony, health, etc. Satan is the opposite, and wants do destroy and cause suffering. The World is always about 50/50, sometimes more harmonious, sometimes more destructive. And the basic dynamic is this: a new inspiration for greater harmony comes to Earth, one way or another, and at first Satan resists with violence, trying to destroy the inspiration. If this does not succeed, he eventually makes it part of his own machinations, thus absorbing it. The core ideals of Christianity, I’d argue, are lovely and if everyone followed them, we’d live in a better world. But Satan “absorbed” Christianity and turned it into one of His institutions, still giving lip service to the good things, but having no faith in them whatsoever; rather, the same old worldly methods of lying, cheating, warring, etc are used, and only the details of the marketing have changed.

So, it’s been going on since there’s been people.

Zuma- there’s a lot I don’t know about religion. My dad’s family was christian scientist. It fascinates me that they are the most overrepresented religion in congress, plus they have Henry Paulson. However, maybe it is an artefact of many people being ex-Xtian science. They only have 200k members remaining.
However, my friend said his mother is now in this ‘Church of Religious Science’, which I hadn’t heard of. They use the same vocabulary such as ‘practitioner’. And sure enough, looking it up, their founder (who prides himself on stopping formal education at 15) has a creative mix of Mary Baker Eddy, unitarianism, metaphysics, and positive prosperity theology. Bible based churches denounce all of this. Based on its prominence in some wealthy places like Orange county, I’m wondering if the prosperity ‘you can do it’ theme is what explains the unusual success of christian scientists, when you’d think they don’t have blue-blood privilege like episcopalians, or these connections you all are talking about for catholics. http://www.religiousscience.org/

  14. Dennis says:

Apologies for being so late to put something on the table.
Here’s my contribution to this smorgasbord:

I’m writing from the perspective of someone who believes bible prophecy is legitimate even though I’m dubious about how prophecy is often represented. I wanted to start with an introduction to the nature of prophecy because there are a lot of misconceptions on the subject but I’m rather busy right now and, strictly speaking, it’s off-topic.

So, in relation to Tony and his mates, what does the bible say’s a-comin’?

    1. A universal religion. This will almost certainly be syncretistic and lean heavily on the return of the expected saviour/teacher/guide trope complete with ersatz Golden Boy. It will also be a lie. This is where many believe there is a Catholic connection. From the time it was written people who study this stuff have suspected Rome, and later the Vatican, of being the power that will roll this thing out. There are various reasons for this, some to do with the pagan (some would say anti-biblical and occult) origins of much Catholic doctrine, but also because of prophecies that point to Rome (and the Roman Empire being reborn), one of which mentions the ‘city built on seven hills’ which is symbolically identified with Babylon. Dake, who, pre-1961, on the basis of bible prophecy, did a good job of predicting the secession of Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Albania from the Eastern Bloc, believed this identification had a literal significance and that the ancient city of Babylon would be rebuilt…Keep an eye on Iraq. Interestingly, Istanbul & Moscow, which also fit the seven hills thing, were established as centres of Orthodox Catholicism as well. There are very good reasons not to forget Jerusalem when discussing this topic and it may be that the ‘seven hills’ reference was intentionally non-specific because it was intended to have significance as things unfold to more than one city.

    2. This religion will become the exclusive call girl of political/financial power. At first they’ll look like they’re an item and, oh, the things they’ll accomplish together, but eventually he’ll turn on her and she’ll be stripped, cannibalised and cremated by her erstwhile lover.

    3. Now the dark and hidden powers that be (who are not all exactly what you would call human) have cleared the table and established their power structures there’s no need for pretence anymore: The snake comes out of hiding, sheds its skin and the dragon is revealed. The worst of times begins…thanks to God, not for too many years.
