FLASHBACK: British Gave Bomb Technology to the IRA Which Is Now Being Used by Iraqi Insurgents
February 15th, 2007… while Iran is being blamed.
Ask these SAS guys about it. What else were they doing besides dressing up as Arabs and shooting at Iraqi police?
Via: Independent:
Eight British soldiers killed during ambushes in Iraq were the victims of a highly sophisticated bomb first used by the IRA, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.
The soldiers, who were targeted by insurgents as they travelled through the country, died after being attacked with bombs triggered by infra-red beams. The bombs were developed by the IRA using technology passed on by the security services in a botched “sting” operation more than a decade ago.
This contradicts the British government’s claims that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is helping Shia insurgents to make the devices.
The Independent on Sunday can also reveal that the bombs and the firing devices used to kill the soldiers, as well as two private security guards, were initially created by the UK security services as part of a counter-terrorism strategy at the height of the troubles in the early 1990s.
According to security sources, the technology for the bombs used in the attacks, which were developed using technology from photographic flash units, was employed by the IRA some 15 years ago after Irish terrorists were given advice by British agents.
…
Even more alarming is the claim that the devices were supplied by the security services to an agent inside the Provisionals as part of a dangerous game of double bluff.
According to investigators examining past collusion between the security forces and paramilitaries in Northern Ireland, members of the shadowy army undercover outfit, the Force Research Unit, and officers from MI5 learned in the early 1990s that a senior IRA member in south Armagh was working to develop bombs triggered by light beams. They decided the risks would be diminished if they knew what technology was being used.
“The thinking of the security forces was that if they were intimate with the technology, then they could develop counter-measures, thereby staying one step ahead of the IRA,” a senior source close to the inquiry explained. “It may seem absurd that the security services were supplying technology to the IRA, but the strategy was sound.

I was born and raised in Northern Ireland… There is a superabundance of lessons the libertarian can learn from Northern Ireland, concerning government infiltration of militant organisations and political parties, media manipulation, psyops, how they dealt with patriotic conservatives (the Protestant population) and rebellious subversives (the Catholic population), and many, many other important issues.
cryingfreeman,
I’ve actually spent a couple of weeks in Armagh. A friend of mine has relatives from there. I’d studied the conflict for years and I can safely say that NO amount of study prepares a person for the actual situation.
Seeing the Sniper at Work signs and the large IRA letters nailed to the telephone poles in South Armagh suddenly brought the situation into much sharper focus: “Holy shit. This is the real deal,” I thought, as I kept driving north. Advice from my friend: “If we encounter British soldiers, just do what they say. If it’s guys with guns, but wearing civilian clothes, uhhh, well… It’s not really clear who’s in control through here.” We passed another IRA telephone pole. “But don’t worry, we’re probably safer here than in Dundalk.” HA
I came away from Armagh, and from Belfast, more confused about that conflict than ever.
I was there in the relatively calm late 1990s, but I could still feel the pressure of the situation everywhere.
My car was actually under RUC surveillance because (people guessed) it had been rented in Dublin and was parked in a “Republican” area for more than a couple of days. I have an Irish last name.
The person I was staying with confronted two guys who were hanging around the car, and they produced RUC credentials. Totally plain clothes dress. Nondescript car. Then of course, seeing the uniformed RUC guys up the road a bit with the loaded HK MP5s was interesting.
Almost certainly, the RUC had my details and was wondering what an American with an Irish last name was doing there. (Indeed, several of the locals in Armagh asked, laughing, some variation of “Why the F would you come here? Of all the places you could go on holiday?” They thought I was nuts.)
But talking to people caught on both sides of the thing, I found that A) everybody seemed to hate the situation and B) nobody really knew what the hell was going on; or, more likely, they didn’t let on to me, a total stranger with a funny accent, if they did know.
A Protestant guy said that the RA was good because when they blow up a government building people would get jobs rebuilding it. Was he serious or not? I chuckled along, uncomfortably. Admittedly, I’d had about 7 pints when I heard that one, and he’d had a lot more. My buddy told me a British Army captain, sitting near by, laughed too. And the guys wearing black in the corner, keeping to themselves (if you know what I mean), quietly took in the scene.
Turned out, that British Army captain had a Catholic girlfriend who was related to people in the RA.
“That’s it. I don’t want to know anymore.”
I thought things would be more cut and dry, one way or the other; no such luck school boy, things are much weirder on the ground. Up is down. Black is white. Come to think about it, mostly everything looked gray.

Kevin, I actually live in Armagh and yes, I remember the Sniper At Wwork signs. Good to read of your experiences here… When I get more time, I’ll write to you about what I feel the libertarian can learn from the conflict here but for now, I doubt that Protestant guy was serious in his comments. The IRA murdered a lot of us just for doing mundane work for the police (e.g. providing catering, construction work, etc) and I know several familes destroyed trough the killing of a husband / father / son. We hated the IRA with passion, although I now have the same feelings towards the UK government who manipulated both communities here.
My best mate is a young but nonetheless retired RUC officer… He has more psychological problems than anyone I know. He sleeps with a Glock under his pillow but nothing can ease his mind when he gets the flashback dreams. He can only relax when he’s on holiday out of Ulster.
As you intimate, nothing was ever quite as it seemed here and unless you were born into it and had a good handle on how the intelligence setup works, as well as the bigger picture of the globalist agenda, you’d have very little chance of coming close to the truth.

When reading the article, pay particular attention to the details related to the following quote:
“The undercover Project Yucca ended after someone–it remains unclear who–dropped a bundle of papers at the Montvale (N.J.) office of KPMG on Oct. 18, 2005. The papers included Diligence business records and e-mails with details of Project Yucca.â€
Anyone wannna bet that the operations key player, Alfa Group Consortium, dropped that dime to ensure that their chance of being fingered and prosecuted was reduced to near zero??
You know, the oxymorons “Legal Crime†and “Lawful Criminal(s)†may appear to be devoid of meaning, but in the Real World, they have significant applicability.

Information such as this is a rare find, as They keep these particular relationships well hidden.
