July 23rd, 2008The Pentagon—Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA)—user (host: host-141-116-70-190.ptr.hqda.pentagon.mil, ip: 141.116.70.190) conducted the following Google search: wachovia passing out counterfeit bills.
The Pentagon user visited the following Cryptogon pages:
WACHOVIA BANK IN FLORIDA DISTRIBUTING COUNTERFEIT $100 BILLS
Mysterious $100 ‘Supernote’ Counterfeit Bills Appear Across World
From all us regulars here at crytogon, we’d like to extend our warmest welcome to you, nameless pentagon person.
Cryptogon is banned on most .mil domains. This person “rates” a clearer shot to the Intertubes for some reason.
It would be funny if it were some 3rd party contractor, a network geek with minimal clearance but the smarts to be able to get around the restrictions. It’s either that or someone above the restrictions. More fun to think the former.
ooooo, because we’re such a warm and fuzzy group, how’s about we give Mr. “nameless pentagon person” his very own moniker? I fancy the sound of Douglas C. Neidermeyer. I can just imagine Dougie barking at us hapless Cryptogoners: “You’re all worthless and weak. Now drop and give me twenty!”
those filters are a PIA to administer, let me tell ya. and most of the time, if you can figure things out yourself and provide plausible excuses to the local information security goons (or if you’re one of the goons), it’s not difficult to get around them.
obviously this varies greatly by agency, by location and by department. i just love that Kevin posts this stuff. 🙂
