Human Resources

December 5th, 2010

If Cryptogon had a “required viewing” list, Human Resources would be at the top. However, this is not a movie for beginners. I’ve been gazing down the barrel of this predicament of ours for twenty years and I felt my pulse quicken and the hair on my arms standing on end as I watched this.

Metanoia Films – Human Resources

This movie is an excellent find.

Each thread of the narrative can and probably should be followed “off camera” for a greater understanding of the control grid that we’re facing.

    The documentary’s a must see.
I found the definitions of metanoia very interesting: http://metanoia-films.org/about.php

Watched that, and now I am wondering what we don’t know. I hope I can sleep tonight.

How sad – to watch this movie alone, late at night.

How sad, to be reminded — gently, wisely, compassionately, and devastatingly — what we are doing to each other.

Unlike the “Zeitgeist” franchise, this is not likely to become
a paean to technology, or a jumping off point for a single
unified response. Each person will find their own unique
threads to pull in this fabric.

    *heavy sigh*

    But…boy….it’s not easy to watch.

    Thanks for posting, Kevin.

watched that, then finished reading Political Ponerology

here’s a good quote from that:
“In the author’s opinion, Ponerology reveals itself to be a new branch of science born out of historical need and the most recent accomplishments of medicine and psychology. In light of objective naturalistic language, it studies the causal components and processes of the genesis of evil, regardless of the latter’s social scope… Again and again, as the reader will discover, in such a study, we meet with the effects of pathological factors whose carriers are people characterized by some degree of various psychological deviations or defects.”

now, I am all doomed out.

Right at the 34 minute mark, Chomsky, referring to the Western Capitalist propaganda system and the Soviet propaganda system regarding what “Socialism” means, says, “When the world’s 2 propaganda systems agree, it’s going to be very hard for people to extricate from it.” How apropos that is for us here in the US. Just change the references to the Democratic and Republican parties, viz. both US foreign and domestic policy, and it fits just as well. E.g., when both the Evil (or Wonderful) Bush wages imperial wars, and the Wonderful (or Evil) Obama completely sanctifies them — well then, they must be good, “everybody” agrees!

suggestions of morality are only that, suggestions. when the consequence of action is no consequence, then the action will be repeated with varying flavours until consequence is enacted.

as these systems of behaviour are diffusive by nature, the idea that actual consequence will come directly from those acted on, approaches zero the higher up the food chain one gets.

it can then be said that species differentiation of human exists as a matter of socio economic divide and can in fact be classed by lifespan, nutritive requirements, and lifestyle. the general introduction of one to the other (tends to) provoke a significant shortening of lifespan either through overabundance and lack of control, or starvation of lifestyle due to inability to continue processes/procedures/whatnot and acclimitization to a lack thereof. it’s worth noting that in most populations individuals will exist that inhabit both, or none, or cross back and forth with little difficulty given the impetous.

a great fictional example would be huxley’s ‘brave new world’. it’s a troublesome thought that we are more likely to find ourselves in parodies of the future, rather than ‘the future’ as played by skinner et al.

i’m not sure which is worse: the truth, the parody, or the blindness that either exist and the rage that simmers regardless.

pretty much exactly what RMOHANX said. some days i almost envy the farmville players.

  9. dermot says:

    AGH!!!!!!!

I just can’t watch this … not with ads for FUCKING DENTISTRY covering the screen every 20 SECONDS.

    Capitalism: keep it classy, eh?

  10. dermot says:

Right; if you’re as bugged by commercial filth as I am, avoid using Opera or other browsers; Firefox with Adblocker will do the trick. If you use the videodownloader plugin, you can save it and watch locally as well. File’s about 800M.

    @ Dagobaz
    M. Scott Peck (a former Army psychiatrist and author of several books I’ve never actually read but friends have told me about) was dismayed to discover that some of his patients weren’t so much sick as they were evil. These people tend to be deeply attracted to positions of power – political, religious, emotional (as is often expressed in the abuse of children), etc. I found the wikipedia article about him rather interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Scott_Peck
