Britain: Girl Dies After Receiving Cervical Cancer Vaccine

UPDATE: Ambulance Called for Second Girl Who Received Cervarix at Same School as Natalie Morton:

Unfortunately, the source is the Daily Mail.

Via: Daily Mail:

Another schoolgirl at Blue Coat Church of England School needed an ambulance after having the cervical cancer jab, it emerged last night.

The 15-year-old pupil became cold, weak and dizzy less than an hour after the vaccine and only a short time after schoolmate Natalie Morton became fatally ill.

Her symptoms were so severe that paramedics did emergency blood tests and an ECG scan in a back room at the school, the girl’s mother said.

The teenager refused to go to hospital because of a phobia of ambulances so her mother collected her from school on Monday.

The girl remains ill with chronic chest and back aches and loss of appetite.

Her twin sister also had the vaccine on Monday but suffered only a sore arm and tiredness. Neither have any allergies.

Last night the mother criticised Blue Coat School for failing to contact her and check on her daughter’s condition.

NHS Direct advised that she monitor her daughter and wake her during the night to check her responsiveness.

The mother, who has five children including twins, told the Daily Mail: ‘She was and still is really quite ill. I don’t know what caused it but she went to school perfectly healthy and became sick soon after the vaccine.

‘Now she’s completely out of sorts.

Paramedics said she might have been low on blood sugar because she hadn’t eaten lunch. But that’s not true – she did have lunch on Monday.

‘It’s a very anxious time. My daughter knew Natalie from seeing her around school and she’s petrified that whatever killed Natalie might have got to her too.

‘I’m angry that the school sought emergency medical help but haven’t followed it up at all. What happened is tragic for Natalie but where is the help in place for the girls who suffered side effects?

‘The school could face further tragedy unless they look after the victims of what seem to be horrendous symptoms from this cervical cancer vaccine.’

Before we get to the latest murder, let’s review the Ashleigh Cave story:

The mother of a 13-year-old girl who became partly paralysed after being given a cervical cancer vaccination says social workers have told her the child may be removed if she (the mother) continues to link her condition with the vaccination.

In the first of those cases, Ashleigh Cave, 13, from Liverpool, began experiencing severe headaches and dizziness half an hour after being inoculated last October with Cervarix, which guards against girls contracting the human papilloma virus.

The schoolgirl was soon collapsing repeatedly; she lost the use of her legs and was admitted to Alder Hey children’s hospital. Nearly 11 months later she is still in hospital and is unable to stand or walk unaided. Her mother, Cheryl, has now been told that doctors believe her condition must be psychosomatic.

“The hospital brought in social workers from the local authority who have told me they are considering putting Ashleigh on an at-risk register,” Cheryl Cave said. She is convinced her daughter’s paralysis was caused by the vaccination.

Cave said that a social worker from Sefton council said she suspected her of having Munchausen’s syndrome by proxy or factitious illness syndrome — controversial conditions in which mothers are said to attribute illnesses falsely to their children in order to gain attention.

Cave said: “The social worker said I should stop believing the injection has anything to do with Ashleigh’s condition because I am putting my thoughts on to her and stopping her getting well.

“Since Ashleigh was in hospital she has become incontinent and had double kidney infections and chest infections. Have I made all these up?”

I guess the doctors won’t say that Natalie Morton is making it all up.

She’s dead.

But hey, that’s what coincidence is for.

Via: BBC:

Health chiefs have launched a “full and urgent” investigation into the death of a 14-year-old girl after she was given a cervical cancer vaccine at school.

Natalie Morton died in hospital on Monday after receiving the Cervarix jab at the Blue Coat Church of England School in Coventry.

There have been 4,657 suspected reactions to Cervarix from more than 1.4m doses, according to experts.

The Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency added it had received 2,137 reports between 14 April 2008 and 23 September this year.

However, the risk of severe, potentially life-threatening reactions is estimated at no more than one per million doses of vaccine.

And it is possible that Natalie’s death was due to an underlying health problem, or was a coincidence, and nothing directly to do with the vaccine.

Dizziness and nausea

The batch of the vaccine used has been placed into quarantine as a “precautionary measure”.

The local NHS also confirmed the vaccination programme would continue, but after a “short pause”.

Dr Caron Grainger, joint director of public health for NHS Coventry and Coventry City Council, said their sympathies were with the girl’s family and friends.

She said: “The incident happened shortly after the girl had received her HPV vaccine in the school. No link can be made between the death and the vaccine until all the facts are known and a post-mortem takes place.

“We are conducting an urgent and full investigation into the events surrounding this tragedy.”

A small number of girls at the school had also reported mild symptoms such as dizziness and nausea but were not admitted to hospital.

Dr David Elliman, a consultant in community paediatrics at Great Ormond Street Hospital, told the BBC it was important to investigate “very quickly” to allay people’s fears about the safety of the jab.

He said: “Once in a while you will expect someone to have a severe allergic reaction to a vaccine, just as with food or any medication.

“At this stage we don’t know what was the tragic cause of this child’s death, so whether or not it’s linked we cannot say, but these are the sort of things one would look for – a severe allergic reaction or more likely a coincidence.”

Still, better to die like she did than of cervical cancer, right?

I’m sure GSK stockholders think so. Especially since it’s going to be called a coincidence.

Natalie Morton, the 14-year-old Coventry schoolgirl who died within hours of having a cervical cancer vaccination, was probably killed by a serious underlying medical condition, early results of a postmortem examination revealed tonight.

Dr Caron Grainger, joint director of public health for NHS Coventry and Coventry city council, said in a statement “it was most unlikely that the HPV vaccination was the cause of death”.

The preliminary results , she said, “have revealed a serious underlying medical condition which was likely to have caused death. We are awaiting further test results which will take some time.” She extended her sympathies to Natalie’s family “during this difficult time”.

Public health officials will be breathing a sigh of relief and attempting to get the vaccination programme back on course after 24 hours of dismay and confusion.

Fears that the human papilloma virus (HPV) jab which Natalie was given may have caused her death led to the emergency recall of the batch used at the Blue Coat Church of England school in Coventry where Natalie was a pupil.

All NHS trusts were instructed by the Department of Health to check the batch numbers of their stocks, a move which meant vaccination sessions had to be cancelled, leading to erroneous rumours that the vaccination programme was being shut down in some areas.

The postmortem examination was carried out with unprecedented speed. That and the unusual step taken by Grainger in making a public announcement of the early results, not much more than a day after Natalie’s death, are a clear indication of the anxiety among public health officials over the potential threat to the national teenage vaccination programme.

About an hour after having the jab Natalie went really pale and wasn’t breathing. I think it was around lunchtime.
‘She fainted in the corridor. I saw ambulance men pumping her chest then the teachers told us to go outside.
‘A lot of people were crying afterwards and we were all very worried.
‘We have to have three of the jabs in all and a lot of us don’t want to take the rest, but they’re telling us we have to because there will be side effects if we don’t have them all.’
Her mother said: ‘It’s all very, very worrying. We feel like our children are being treated like guinea pigs.
‘I wasn’t keen on my daughter having it in the first place but the school seemed insistent.’

The Cervarix vaccine is being given to all girls aged 12 and 13 in a nationwide programme. So far, more than 1.4million doses have been given out, and all under the age of 18 will have received it by 2011.
The injection is not compulsory but parents who do not wish their girls to have it must opt out of the programme.

Around £100 million was earmarked for the programme involving young girls, while the two-year catch-up programme was expected to cost a further £20 million.
The NHS pays £80 a dose, plus admin and staff costs, and three jabs are given altogether.

I have a phone date about six times a year with a friend of mine who live thousands of miles from me where we talk about our mothers (both are in their 90’s) etc.
We talked about how the H1N1 vaccine is targeted to young folks – and we both are “laughing” ( I mean we are really crying) that these vaccines- the H1n1 and Ceravix vaccines have been developed for those at risk. Yes – and those at risk groups that are targeted for vaccine are those who are still able to reproduce the species.
Yes. So guess what. I think CA Fitts at Solari was on target re genocide.
Vaccines targeted for people on the planet still able to reproduce.
Sounds like the target group for these vaccines are those that are still fertile that need to be killed off.
Hey, if you can’t kill them with kindness, shoot them up with a vaccine.

the c-word is out in force again today in the UK press…

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/oct/01/natalie-morton-cervical-cancer-jab

Let’s be clear. Nobody has died from the cervical cancer HPV vaccine. But one death in the UK and 32 in the US have been linked to it – meaning that these young women died of something within seven days of receiving the jab. As with Natalie, it is highly unlikely the jab was the direct cause of death, and some of these deaths will have been totally coincidental.

But beyond all that there is sometimes, as with Natalie, the existence of an unknown medical problem, which could have struck them down at any time. “It is conceivable that a child could have an underlying problem with their heart or a heart valve or an unrelated seizure disorder, such as epilepsy, which has not until that event become evident. The event could coincide with vaccination,” he says. It is also possible that the vaccine – or the pain or anxiety around having the injection – could trigger the fatal episode.
