Passport Problems Trap Citizens in U.S.

June 13th, 2007

I can’t imagine that anyone reading Cryptogon for any length of time wouldn’t have their passport situation sorted out, but just in case you don’t know what’s happening…

Via: MSNBC:

With so much fighting going on about people who want to get into the country, we didn’t realize how hard it is to get out. Chaos at the U.S. Passport office has left thousands of travelers stranded stateside, many of them holding useless airplane and cruise tickets — a situation one critic calls “reverse Ellis Island.”

Thats where my family is right now. While my passport is still valid for several years my wife and kids’ are sitting in limbo now for three months. We hadn’t traveled outside together since 2000 so theirs were all expired. The reason I was getting my family all up to date was so we could check out other countries and possible future homes.

Its absolutely absurd that the morons in State are making excuses about their inability to cope. Seems the USofA can spend billions to send Muslims to Allah while on the flip side send their own to hell.

This makes me wonder if these guys really know what they are doing.

The last thing I need, as I’m trying to escape into Mexico, is to get caught up in barbed wire while the Gestapo is shooting at me.

Well at least they’re still issuing the things – I’d start getting worried if I start hearing reports of people not getting them for ‘not having filed taxes’, or ‘committing a misdemeanor at some point in their life’, or this sort of thing.. once you hear that, you know they’re going to start cracking down on people that are trying to jump off the sinking ship!

My US Passport expires in 2 years. Hmm, that Panamanian Passport I can buy through their ‘economic citizenship’ is starting to smell really good.. hmmm….

Why would any libertarian American need a passport anyway? Sure, you can all hide in well-stocked retreats in the Cascades or the intra montane plain and the Feds will never find you. You can all join patriot militias and arm yourselves to the teeth in readiness to fend off the hapless storm troopers sent to round you up, safe in the knowledge that you and your survival-trained kids won’t be interned in those vast FEMA camps.
