British Council Institutes Harsher Criminal Sentencing, But Only For White Men

April 1st, 2025

Via: ZeroHedge:

The Sentencing Council of England And Wales, a non-departmental public body (faceless bureaucracy) which determines the guidelines for court punishments of convicted offenders, has recently made controversial changes and ignited a firestorm among the native British populace.

The council has announced that special exceptions in sentencing will be made for ethnic minority offenders (the majority of violent crime in Britain) and religious minority offenders, as well as female offenders. In other words, everyone except white males will enjoy reduced sentencing, creating a two tier justice system that targets white men for harsher treatment.

So this is mainly a finances issue. Ideally the CJS would like pre-sentencing reports done for all offenders, but there isn’t enough money to do that. So instead they’ve targeted the funding at the characteristics experiencing most disadvantage on average (so where it is perceived to make the most beneficial difference).

The government are opposed to this and advised the SCEW to avoid this outcome. When it didn’t, the government are bringing legislation swiftly in to stop what they see as an inequality in the CJS. Unfortunately the legislation implementation will lag behind the SCEW changes by some weeks.

A few things should be pointed out as inaccuracies in this ZeroHedge piece:

    – they are not instituting harsher criminal sentencing for anyone. Sentencing will remain the same for those not included in the allocation of pre-sentencing reports.

    – ethnic minority offenders do not constitute the majority of violent crimes or the majority of offenders. That continues to be ethnic majority white offenders.

Speaking of how AI contradicts in the gentlest possible voice: “A few things should be pointed out as inaccuracies in this ZeroHedge piece.” How kind of it to inform us when we’ve been given wrong information and don’t realize it. What a good friend.

I’m confused by your comment Snowman. I wrote that sentence. Are you suggesting that you thought what I wrote was written by AI? I research and write all my own posts and comments, just FYI. If I use passive voice, it’s from a lifetime of being British and doing academic research. 🙂

(You can tell it’s not AI because it has one of my trademark errors – I mention a ‘few’ and then proceed to only list a couple 🙂 )
