Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has voiced strong opposition to using the U.S. military to enforce deportation measures, emphasizing that immigration enforcement should remain the responsibility of domestic law enforcement agencies on Newsmax Tuesday.
Paul, a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, criticized the idea of deploying the military to enforce immigration policies, calling it a “terrible image” for the United States.
All my life I’ve heard that the Nat’l Guard is for operations on American soil, and the Army is for going overseas as needed. I got the strong impression that it was a line in the sand that must not be crossed.
We’ve already sent plenty of Nat’l Guard overseas. Now we’re sending the Army down our own streets. All we got for the Nat’l Guard’s efforts is thousands of them dead or wounded and the Middle East throwing off the Westernization it had achieved and hating us. We’ll see what happen with the Army.
I’m not blaming the soldiers. The problem is the people at the top who plan these things and manage them. Rounding up illegals, beginning with the gangs, could immediately turn into an American Kristallnacht, only worse if the gangs are similarly armed.
This is about getting you used to the idea of rounding up people that people don’t like [ don’t belong ]. And people can be made to dislike anyone. Slippery slope
That could be… bring illegals here so you can round up people whom the nation wants gone, then move on to people wearing MAGA hats…
This is something Trump suggested he might do, so I guess he might just as easily not do it. I’m seeing a lot of grass roots agreement with it. I imagine that those agreeing think it will only happen to other people, and never to them. They say that they trust Trump. Using military on the domestic front doesn’t sit well with me, though.
