The U.S. National Debt Just Passed $35 Trillion

The US national debt topped a psychologically important milestone of $35 trillion in recent days and has risen by $1 trillion since January — mounting by nearly $5 billion every day so far in 2025.

This latest barrier was formally pierced last Friday. That’s when a daily Treasury Department tabulation, which was then compiled and released late Monday, showed a gross debt level of $35.001278 trillion.

America’s red ink has now jumped by more than 75% during the Trump and Biden administrations, and yet the issue has been relegated to the back burner during the 2024 campaign season.

Not only that, deficit hawks warn, it’s often been pushed aside in favor of ideas that could increase debt even further.

    “Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says governments will need to spend $3 trillion every year to fight climate change.” The US govt, of course, will have to borrow its share.

    The only reason I’d loan the US govt any money is if I would, for sure, get something of more value back in return.

    The existing US govt debt is already unpayable with all the cash, gold and Bitcoins owned (that we know of) by the govt, which amounts to $922B. The cash, gold and Bitcoins owned by all US residents supposedly amounts to $9B. So even if these personal assets were seized and added to all the monetary assets of the govt, the debt could be reduced by only $1T, from $35T to $34T.

    What else do the lenders expect to get from the US that will repay their loans? What else will pay off another $3T added to the debt every year?

    I wish I could see the IMF’s global balance sheet, or the Rothschild’s, or whoever’s exists anywhere. Somebody is keeping track. Somebody is moving money around and making it by moving it. Or should I say, stealing it from all of us via govt indebtedness?

    Dear President Trump: Please make US Treasury bonds salable only to US citizens and forbid US citizens from holding simultaneous citizenship in any other country.
