New York City Considering Handing Out Tents to Illegal Immigrants

Via: Wall Street Journal:

New York City officials have discussed distributing tents to newly arriving migrants and creating encampments in parks and other outdoor spaces, according to people familiar with deliberations among Mayor Eric Adams and his top advisers.

Adams, a Democrat, said Tuesday that the city has run out of hotels and other indoor sites to house more than 65,000 people in its care—most of whom crossed over the Southern border illegally—and was looking for large outdoor spaces as it plans the next phase of its response.

The city has previously erected large tents to shelter hundreds of migrants, but what is being considered now would be more like a campsite, the people familiar with the talks said. Asked for comment, City Hall spokesman Fabien Levy said that all options were on the table for dealing with the migrant crisis.

Tents at the beginning of winter? When the temperature in the daytime is often below freezing and snow piles up? Will they have kitchens and showers? Separate bedrooms for kids and adults? Space heaters or central hot air systems? Water lines and sewer lines? Sidewalks because the melting snow will make mud? How can they not fall far short of the current luxury hotel accommodations with room service — the illegals aren’t going to be happy with less.

And Central Park will have a big slum section imposed on it. I can’t imagine the current residents in the area putting up with illegals actually living in their park. Their dog walkers exercise their dogs there, their nannies take their kids there, they ride their horses there and do their jogging there. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is in one corner.

I wonder if some military contractor is itching for the job of making those tents? And some mafiosi for the electric, water and sewer contracts?
