I’ve been polling my friends back in the SF Bay area about the tech employment situation, and it’s only in the last few weeks that I’ve been hearing the first real rumblings of woe.

I expect the delay is just propagation time. Year-long buying cycle turn-over is just hitting the bottom line of hi-tech now, with what must be MASSIVELY reduced demand for hardware and software in 2009. IT upgrades are the first thing out the door (I’m sure Kevin knows all about this) when budgets are slashed.

On a semi-related note, the amount of trolling by IT recruiters in my email has been seriously down over the last few months. No surprise there.
