Awkwardly, what this reminds me of is my mother’s stories of growing up in germany. She was about 6 when WWII started, so she remembers all of it. When you ask her what schools were like, she says that they had a lot of propaganda in the Hitler youth, and that until late in the war, the news presented everything as going well with victory around the corner, and that they were the victims of others. On weekends, they would be taken to political rallies and forced to stand there for hours listening to speeches and saluting, and she has memories of classmates fainting in the sun. I am in no way trying to say the democrats are like nazis.
