Via: Food Consumer:

On September 14, the Corn Refiner’s Association said in a press release posted on its website that it has asked the Food and Drug Administration to allow manufacturers of high fructose corn syrup, or HFCS, to use the name “corn sugar” instead of high fructose corn syrup.

    this is a classic.
HFCS finally gets the bad rap it deserves, so they change the name to “sugar”. ffs.

reminds me of the situation in Japan. HFCS appears on food labels as “kato-budoto-ekito” (fructose-glucose syrup). no mention of corn anywhere.

    perception management…yeas.

    From the Guardian:
Michael Jacobson, executive director of the Washington-based Centre for Science in the Public Interest, said that the fundamental issue was that people needed to consume less sugar: “Soda pop sweetened with sugar is every bit as conducive to obesity as soda pop sweetened with high fructose corn syrup.”

    my response:
liar, liar, your pants are on fire
