I think the original V was the first time I became aware of occult influences on the public consciousness in the mainstream media (occult in the sense of veiled, disguised, concealed). Later I remember thinking it was released a little early in the scheme of things to have what I assumed was its desired effect.
Contrary to my assumptions about its purpose, the writer says it’s about having too much faith in your leaders so maybe ‘the words of the prophets’ (slightly tongue in cheek Simon & Garfunkel reference) are getting through the censors of the mainstream media. Or maybe not.
Interesting that the remake was Warner Bros’ idea.

I saw that show when I was 5 years old. I actually thought it was real because of how the commercials marketed it.
