Kucinich to Press for Dick Cheney Impeachment

April 18th, 2007

Hmm. These lone nuts have remarkable timing!

Via: Cleveland.com:

Cleveland congressman Dennis Kucinich sent his Democratic colleagues a two-sentence email this morning announcing imminent plans to introduce “Articles of Impeachment with respect to the conduct of Vice President Cheney.”

“Please have your staff contact my office,” the missive continued,”if you would like to receive a confidential copy of the document prior to its introduction in the House.”

Kucinich press secretary Natalie Laber refused to comment on Kucinich’s email or to provide any more information about his efforts to push for Cheney’s impeachment. The Plain Dealer obtained the email from a different Democratic congressional office.

Cheney’s deputy press secretary, Megan McGinn, said she couldn’t comment on Kucinich’s email because she hadn’t seen it.

Asked whether Cheney had done anything he could be impeached for, McGinn replied: “The vice president has had nearly 40 years of government service and has done so in an honorable fashion.”

While Democratic activists have called for impeachment of Cheney, President Bush and other administration officials, Democratic leaders in the House and Senate have not expressed interest in doing so.

In my book of politicians, Kucinich has huge balls. Sorry if such word speak offends, but I don’t know any other way to write about him.
The story of this man and Cleveland politics is telling of his history and where his politcal position originates.. I believe he lost an election in Ohio due to his opposition to privatizing energy supply (I think water)in Cleveland (up the road from where I was born and razed. haha). Cleveland, OH is the land of the Soprano culture. That Kucinich has been reincarnated as a player in the U.S. political system speaks well of the people of Ohio. Yes indeed, I’ll be signing on.
I say [Seven Words Deleted] //MOD Eileen: That statement could result in your arrest and Cryptogon being shut down without warning. Please don’t do that again. I know where the line is and that was totally over it. —Kevin

May his Manchurian candidate engineered, heartless, souless, shell of what is supposed to stand in for a human being hang in the breeze for many a day. Perhaps EBay will sell the freeze dried chips of his husk for a pence, for those who would want to “trip” on EVIL.

    Help Kucinich to Impeach Bush
Kucinich says he’s pursuing impeachment? Well let’s help him out. Sacks and sacks of mail are about to arrive in Dennis Kucinich’s office initiating impeachment via the House of Representative’s own rules. This legal document is as binding as if a State or if the House itself passed the impeachment resolution (H.R. 635).

Kucinich says he is building his case for impeachment, and is working to build the support of his peers in Congress. He says he intends to impeach. He said he needs us to keep building the groundswell of support for impeachment all over the country. He asks that we send him copies of all the resolutions passed in various States, local Legislative Districts, County Districts and of any petitions with signatures, so that he can present them to the floor of the House. He said he felt that our framing the issue of impeachment in terms of the Constitution is a principled choice, and ultimately more effective than just acting on anger. Here’s video of Kucinich addressing the impeachment issue:

Let’s answer Kucinich’s call with a petition that has it’s precedent in history, and it’s legitimacy in the Rules of the House of Representatives.

There’s a little known and rarely used clause of the “Jefferson Manual” in the rules for the House of Representatives which sets forth the various ways in which a president can be impeached. Only the House Judiciary Committee puts together the Articles of Impeachment, but before that happens, someone has to initiate the process.

That’s where we come in. In addition to a House Resolution (635), or the State-by-State method, one of the ways to get impeachment going is for individual citizens like you and me to submit a memorial. ImpeachforPeace.org has created a new memorial based on one which was successful in impeaching a federal official in the past. You can find it on their website as a PDF.

You can initiate the impeachment process and simultaneously help Kucinich to follow through with the process. Do-It-Yourself by downloading the memorial, filling in the relevant information (your name, state, etc.), and sending it in. We’re not only having you send them to Dennis now, but also to Impeach for Peace. That way, we can collect them all in one place, and deliver them all simultaneously (with cameras rolling) in July. Be a part of history.

  3. Why impeach him? He’ll just be pardoned by the next administration. In any case, he’s just one of the managers. Managers are a dime a dozen. Plenty more where they came from.

It would be hilarious if They offered up the entire lot of them as some sort of “sacrifice” to an International Tribunal.

That just might mollify the rest of the world. Can you see it? We could have a whole televised psychodrama of how America finally found its conscience and punished its amoral leaders by giving them up to the “World” to judge. Then the system would be fixed and everyone could go back to sleep.

There is some Big Medicine happening behind all this. It could come to a head very quickly, even before the end of the month.

The Nimitz CBG should be arriving in the Arabian Sea in a week or so. And now I hear the Marines are reinforcing, too. The Bonhomme Richard group will also be arriving there very shortly to relieve, or augment, the Boxer group already in the Gulf. Another destroyer is enroute, too. For a time, there will be three heavy carrier battle groups, plus two marine amphibious assault groups in the region. It is normal for these groups to rotate in and out, but for a period of time around the end of April, there will be an unbelievable amount of firepower floating around over there.

Crytal ball time: Bush’s impeachment will be avoided by Cheney’s resignation as the price to be paid before the military agrees to engage Iran. He will go, (probably back to Halliburton wher he can continue to pull strings), and McCain will be appointed VP and become the next GOP presidential nominee. Bush will pull the trigger on Iran because he still believes that neutralizing them for a while is the only way to get the US out of Iraq. He may even be right, bizarrely enough. But the risk is enormous. He is betting the farm on one spin of the wheel.

There are a goodly number of CENTCOM and E-Ring brass who are dead-set against an Iran attack, and have been rumoured to be in contact with Congressional staffers about using the threat of impeachment as the last resort to stop it. I wonder if this is it, and Kucinich is the point man?

    Good drinking weather.

While I can’t disagree with Kucinich in practice or on principle, I’ve got to wonder out loud: why now? [of course, ‘why not now?’ seems equally valid on logic.]

Is he hoping to be the next recipient of a sputtering motor at cruising altitude somewhere over the midwest?

Sen. John McCain brought his “Straight Talk” tour to South Carolina Wednesday morning.

The presidential hopeful spent 90 minutes talking to nearly 500 people who crammed into the Murrells Inlet VFW Hall.

At the campaign rally, McCain was asked if an attack on Iran is in the works, the GEORGETOWN TIMES reports.

McCain began his answer by changing the words to a popular BEACH BOYS song.

“Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran,” he sang to the tune of Barbara Ann.

One McCain aide who attended the event said McCain was adding a little levity to the discussion and the crowd reacted with laughter.

McCain went on to discuss the seriousness of the issue, saying he supports the President, and he will not allow Iran to destroy Israel.
