OBAMA CONSIDERING JON CORZINE, ANOTHER FORMER GOLDMAN SACHS CHIEF EXECUTIVE, FOR TREASURY SECRETARY

November 6th, 2008

Change can happen. Change we need.

Yes, friends, change is having different former CEOs of Goldman Sachs serving as Treasury Secretary.

Via: Star Ledger:

Gov. Jon Corzine, a multimillionaire and former Wall Street chief executive, is being actively vetted by the Obama transition team as a possible candidate for Treasury secretary in the new administration, two New Jersey Democrats familiar with the process said early this morning.

As part of the vetting process, the transition team is reviewing Corzine’s financial and personal documents, the sources said. The sources asked not to be identified because the vetting process is confidential.

Neither Corzine nor his aides would respond to a request for comment.

Corzine, who used to run financial services giant Goldman Sachs, had long dismissed as speculation talk that he might be interested in running the sprawling U.S. Treasury Department. But in recent days he has changed his message, telling a television interviewer “No one’s ever going to say never.”

Corzine said last night that if President-elect Barack Obama asked him to serve in his administration, he would consider the offer — but that he’d rather fight for a second term in New Jersey.

“I’d like to stay here and use New Jersey as a basis” and example for the rest of the country, Corzine said on New Jersey Network from the victory party of U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.).

The governor has long, deep ties to Obama after having been an early advocate for the president-elect’s upstart campaign for U.S. Senate in 2004. Though Corzine backed Obama’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, in the Democratic primaries, the governor quickly moved to renew his relationship with Obama after the president-elect had secured his party’s nomination. Since then, Corzine has played a key role in Obama’s universe as an economic adviser and booster for the incoming president.

Corzine’s name surfaced as a member of the short list Monday in a report on the TheDeal.com. He would follow a long line of Goldman Sachs leaders into the secretary’s post, including the current secretary, Henry Paulson.

That’s an awesome header. I’m not looking forward to the 15th when our Bilderberger Prime Minister and his “no opposition” minority government propel Canada down the gold brick road. We know none of this is happenstance and for that and the long term outcome for the NWO, I’m ready to roll over. I don’t know when we actually cross that threshhold but the Rubicon is on the agenda and the future is on the other side.

Oh come on, Kevin, don’t be so cynical. I’m sure he’ll wear a nice, pretty blue tie to work every day! 😀

    Sheesh. That headline really sucks.
I was hoping he’d get Catherine Austin Fitts, or ask Ron Paul to take this on.
One good rumor is that Robert Kennedy, Jr. for the EPA. The other good news that is not a rumor is that at least judges to the Supreme Court will not be Bush appointed. That fact alone is making many in America sleep better at night. We might get four to eight years of Obama, for better or worse, but the judges? Woah nellie. They go on forever.

There is also speculation that Obama will appoint former Fed chairman Paul Volker as his Treasury Secretary. What does he advocate for U.S. monetary policy? Get a look at his quote on the banner of this website:

I also think (by these rumors well planned out in advance methinks) that O must know at the very least he must give the appearance of kowtowing obeyance to the Illumanti masters. Who so much are expecting O to act like a slave to their dictums. Help us hold onto to the money O!
Our wealth of vapid paper depends on you! I for one don’t think this is going to be another Bush.
Maybe it will take a person that is partially from a race of slaves to finally throw these suckers out.

Can’t pass inspection and need all new tires
because I ran over a nail and had a vulcanized plug installed?
    Screw him!

    @Eileen:

As long as you’re bringing up the subject, I thought I would chime in and say no, I don’t think the Obama Administration will be like the Bush Administration, either. I think it will be more like the Clinton Administration, namely an intelligent wonky technocrat more or less upholding the situation brought into being by his predecessors. Of course, when he rolls back one or two egregiously reactionary minor policies, the talk-radio Nazis will start up with their somewhat-covertly racist bloviating and the wingnuts will start screaming themselves red in the face about how “Hussein” Obama is the Anti-Christ.

So as the late, great Hunter S. Thompson might have said, the next few years will be just like the 90’s, only with no money. 😉
