Dutch Parliament Considering Forced Birth Control for “Unfit” Mothers

November 5th, 2008

The shit-for-brains Malthusian mini-Hitlers love this stuff. The shrill “peak everything” people are some of the most deranged statists that I’ve ever come across. They sound like flaky greenies at first, but mention centralized government plans to implement orderly kill off/population reduction programs and pay close attention to their responses.

These fascists can’t help it. Forced sterilization and depopulation programs are fine with this crowd. They know what the earth needs more than the unwashed breeders. And strong government is the way to make it happen.

Under current national security state parameters, the public meme that drives “anything goes” is Terrorism. In the future, the justification and rallying call for the state to commit atrocities will be Overpopulation. The War on Overpopulation, perhaps.

The core “peak everything” message is: There are no alternatives. Kill off is humanity’s only hope for survival. Oh yeah, fart taxes. Lots of fart taxes. These idiots should read Darkness at Noon to see where their certainty and grand Utopian visions will wind up.

I acknowledge that there are limits to everything, but to suggest that there aren’t constructive responses and alternatives outside of retrograde fascist nonsense is stupid, dangerous and insulting.

Via: Guardian:

Women in the Netherlands who are deemed by the state to be unfit mothers should be sentenced to take contraception for a prescribed period of two years, according to a draft bill before the Dutch parliament.

The proposed legislation would further punish parents who defied it by taking away their newborn infant. “It targets people who have been the subject of judicial intervention because of their bad parenting,” explained the author of the bill Marjo Van Dijken of the socialist PvDA. “If someone refuses the contraception and becomes pregnant, the child must be taken away directly after birth.”

I must admit that it shocked me that this law was the brainchild of a socialist. As a confounded psychiatrist friend who deals with troubled children put it, this bill is vaguely reminiscent of the eugenics and sterilisation programmes of the fascist era.

Rather than the altruistic goal of protecting children, one friend thinks that this legislative proposal, which is likely to be defeated, is an attempt to steal the populist thunder of the far right in a society that has veered significantly rightwards in recent years. Another hidden objective could be to reduce the cost to the state of caring for abused children.

Luckily, this ill-conceived law, according to legal experts, contravenes the Dutch constitution and the European Charter of Fundamental Rights, and will hopefully be defeated on the floor of the parliament.

Solutions to problems NOT requiring die-offs:
Pandemics: resilient, distributed “rhizome” based community (http://www.jeffvail.net/2007/01/what-is-rhizome.html)
Peak energy: use less just like your great-grandparents!
Peak food: permaculture, forest gardening, biochar/terra preta de indio
    Peak soil: biochar, forest gardening
Global warming: especially biochar, all the above

Not one of these solutions can benefit the wealthy ruling class. Not one of these solutions is being used by any significant percentage of the world population.

Well, it’s not as if any totalitarian government, whether of the capitalist or socialist variety, could ever actually “help the planet” any more than War on Terror stops terrorism. It’s not how they roll.

It seems these types of ideas always tend to the extreme. Wouldn’t it be just as effective and a lot easier for people to swallow to say… give everyone a reversible sterilization at no fee and then remove it upon request, thereby preventing nearly all of the unwanted pregnancy altogether? I am unaware of any population where this wouldn’t either stabilize or reverse population growth.

Easy and effective lack the invigorating perverted thrill akin to strangling someone weaker just for the kicks of it that these types seem to get from dreaming up their solutions.
