Colin Powell: “There’s going to be a crisis come along on the 21st or 22nd of January that we don’t even know about right now.”

October 21st, 2008

What do you make of this one?

Additionally, Joe Biden mentioned a “generated crisis”:

“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. “And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”

In the last couple weeks, I’ve been paying attention to major figures repositioning themselves like in 1945, or the end of the DDR and USSR. (my family described how ex-party members were still able to move into advantaged spots and direct reconstruction and intercept aid packages while regular people gardened or starved).
One set is neoliberals like Thomas Friedman or Fareed Zakaria in Newsweek, claiming that they were aware of the risk and fragility all along (not true- only isolated folks treated like nuts were waving their arms on the internet), and recent events finally might result in the reforms they’ve been advocating.
The 2nd group is a mix of business and religious conservatives apparently were on a conference call to coordinate their message that Obama is a socialist, and the crash of society results from his authoritarian takeover. (Does anyone here disagree? There are so many examples of this. Limbaugh is totally on this message. Glenn Beck is acting like everyone else is calm, but he’s specially aware of impending martial law and needs to wake everyone up. My relative listening to Beck was warning me that the country’s going to shit in January and going socialist, and I asked him if he thought national socialists are socialist, and he said it’s the same thing). They are disappointed that the finance instability couldn’t be delayed til January, or at least November. But they can safely rely on the 2-week current events memory frame of most people, including myself fairly often. After January, Bush and the expenditures of the Iraq war along with their tax cut which doubled the debt from $5 to $10 trillion will be forgotten. The democrats didn’t tell the public about this debt anyway. In 2009, everyone will suddenly hear about this huge debt with accompanying tax burden, and interpret it as socialism from Obama caused in the previous month. I bet the Homeland security apparatus that Kevin has been detailing will be forgotten, and it will all be relearned anew when there is some incident, as a new communist programme.

Very, very strange. I find it strange that Tom didn’t press him AT ALL about that statement. Just took it as a matter of fact and moved along. That’s a pretty big bombshell to drop with no further explanation. In the context of what he’s saying, it sounds like he’s expecting a major event to occur within finance/economy, but strange that he would mention precise dates only one or two days after the new president takes over. That is just not a good sign. I think we really need to investigate that timeframe, and quickly, or we may all be faced with a very nasty surprise.

Powell’s comments are a throw-away…all he was saying is that, come the opening days of the new Presidency, there’re going to be unprecedented crises to address. He wasn’t alluding to anything specific and it’s not worth hyping.

I’m more interested in Biden’s comments. He’s far more the political insider than Powell, and seemed to be quite specific in his insinuations…

  4. OUTSLAW says:

Powell’s specific date could just be a mirror of phrasing from the question, to make a good soundbite. But in the context of Biden’s quote, it’s a stunner.

Darn! And here I thought it might be The Rapture. 😉

I did not find links re Biden’s statements, but Colin Powell – my gawd- I think his coming out to endorse Obama does more to damn Obama than it does to praise him.
Jesu Christo. Yes, we might as a nation have a two week memory span when it comes to the news, but not me. Colin Bowel got up there in front of the United Nation Assembly with a vial of white powder and said it was well – whatever. Iraq had WMD. This to me was the greatest waste of personal power – be it a white, black, indigo, blue, yellow, green or red person could do. Yeah, well how many millions of Iraqi’s dead or displaced, or American soldiers dead, maimed or forever mentally shattered or buggered by the disease from their contact with depleted uranium weaponry? Sheesh. Anyone REMEMBER all that stuff?
Predicting that there is “going to be a crisis” well, yeah, does Colin have something already “pencilled” in on his calendar where he needs to have his speech prepared? Sounds like it. And, Yes, wasn’t it Colin Bowel who went out to the hinterlands of Colorado when Ken Lay “died” to identify the body? Give me an effing break. If Colin Powell HAS AN EFFING CLUE as to what is going to happen in OUR FUTURES it is because he is a SLAVE to some entity that tells him to MAKE IT SO. Colin Powell, in my opinion, has wasted whatever personal prestige he might have gained in his real service to the world and his country as a force of light, to his sell out to the forces of darkness.
Whatever it is, sounds like there is already a plan to spread THE RUMOR OF terror and MAYHEM. And when you Spread RUMORS, JUST LIKE COLIN POWELL DID WITH WMD IN IRAQ, YOU HAVE THE INTENT TO CREATE a DIS-REALity. Whatever.
I cannot grok the thinking that goes into mass mind manipulation. Spread the RUMOR! All will go according to the plan.
Folks like Colin Powell and other now suddenly repentant Republicans coming out of their bunkers to endorse Obama at this time of a landslide about to hit this nation sounds like JUST A TAD BIT OF HYPOCRIsy to me. I don’t think people in the U.S. give 2 shits anymore about who is elected.
Just NOT MORE OF THE SAME which is why I think a landslide is a coming for Obama.
However, even a year ago I did write on this website that because we are a nation and/or world populated by peoples with seemingingly very limited attention spans, that this financial crisis, which had its beginnings in Nixon, will be attributed to Obama! That effing ni**er!
I hope you all realize I couldn’t care less about a persons race, skin color, or religious creed. I’m only hoping to point out that America – as a culture – has been a land grabbing, culture crushing force since the Spaniards first arrived here. Creating a culture that damns the black skinned people that were captured as slaves is COUP DE GRACE!
Nice place, nice land. Yo, you Indians, get the eff out of here. Our ancestors captured and enslaved persons of color from Africa, and brought them here to effing be slaves! Pick cotton fer crying out loud. Oi. And when the Exon Valdez spilled millions upon millions of barrels of CRUDE TAR Oil on Alaskan shores, we effing allowed that cause to go unrepayed and unrepented for more than 20 years. Yet we have no shame.
Amerika is a nice place I guess.I guess my only choice in the matter as to my living here occurred before I was born. This is my karma. I embrace my karma. I love the land, and find a way to honor the soul of every person I encounter. It is not my karma to become the likes and to follow the “leadership” of folks like Colin Powell. He does not speak for me now, nor did he ever.
But I do think its not going to be a January surprise. My favorite astrologer calls it the December Surprise. December 27th – anniversary of the Great Tsunami.
It doesn’t really matter what, when or if any “surprise” will occur. At least I don’t think it matters.
I think we all have a place in us that knows when we are being manipulated to be AFRAID, very AFRAID by the powers that be.
Joe Biden should be ashamed of himself.

I’m certainly not taking it with a pinch of salt, but I’m not locking myself into an underground bunker come those dates either. It was a very, very odd thing to say and is at least worthy of being flagged, especially in light of Biden’s comments.

    @Eileen:

Took a gander at my ephemeris to see to what your astrologer might be referring. Approximately two weeks prior to the Winter Solstice, Mars will form a “t-square” with that vexing Saturn-Uranus Opposition, using a five-degree orb. You might also use a ten-degree orb for fast-moving Mars, in which case the t-square will dominate for the entire month. Around the date you mentioned, Mars crosses into Capricorn (the Sign ruled by Saturn) to conjunct with Pluto, which itself moved back into Capricorn a month previous, and these will be in wide-orb conjunction until about mid-January. On January 24, Mercury retrogrades in Capricorn to form a tight conjunction with Mars.

  9. Eileen says:

    @Loveandlight,
I dunno how to interpret all of the things you wrote about. I also think its neet that you even HAVE an Ephemeris and know how to read it. I can’t pull down his subscription writing to this site. But the two political astrology sites I like the best are these:
    Starlight News – I read Nancy’s Blog:
    http://www.starlightnews.com/
    and
    Planet Waves
    http://planetwaves.net/pagetwo/
Eric wrote that our “culture would be one focused on debt” several years ago.
I don’t feel comfortable posting other peoples websites here, but that’s where I think I am reading the most coherent things that speak to our times. I let them interpret what they see in the emphemeris.
Shit, I can barely spell that e word:-)
    Enjoy.

  10. Eileen says:

I meant to say the most coherent things in the “astrological sense.”
