Air, the Best Clean Vehicle Battery We’ve Got for Now

February 24th, 2007

If you’ve got the electricity, why not? Until the Eestor thing moves out of the vaporware phase, this looks simple and viable.

Hmm, well, the MDI aircar is still pretty much in the vaporware phase too.

An aircar in vaporware phase. Ha. Thank you, I’ll be here all week, please tip your waitress.

And for the hybrid version, why not go with the the corncob carbon natural gas cell?

But in the meantime, enjoy the allowed-to-happen-by-design energy crisis.

Does anybody have any details on Sweden’s plans to get off oil by 2020.

I don’t know about Sweden – but the U.S. radio, and TV spent a lot of dollars this weekend trashing hybrid vehicles, starting last Thursday.
NPR had a segment about blind people ‘itching about how darn quiet the cars were, and that “somebody has to save us from these quiet cars.”
Then the U.S. Environmental Plutocracy Agency (EPA) decided to “release” the “Study” they’ve done on the actual mileage hybrid cars get (please don’t pee your pants laughing yet – there is more to the story – and you know- THERE AREN’T ANY OTHER POLLUTERS OUT THERE JUST MIGHT NEED TO HAVE THEIR ‘SS CHAPPED BY NEGATIVE MEDIA COVERAGE). The results of the EPA study were on the Headline News channel, CBS, etc. ALL WEEKEND like the latest Anna Nicole Smith story (I only watch on the weekends).
You know you can’t make this stuff up. HOLY MACKEREL! The Prius and other hybrids really don’t get 60 MPH yadda yadda on and on, cause people don’t really drive 60 mph, use their heat, AC, radio, defroster, whatever when they are in their freakin’ cars.
Can’t wait for the “Fair and Balanced” side of the story – you know, where the EPA examines the true mileage on SUV’s or, (Satan!) on the HUMMER! Jumping Jehovashat! They will find, sometime in the next century that the HUMMER really only got ONE MILE PER GALLON – versus the 12 on the label!
You know, when the Radio AND TV nutcakes spend so much time debunking the best MASS PRODUCED technology to conserve gasoline this country has had available since the electric car- I got to, got to, got to think – WHAT’s UP?
Can someone please explain this to me?

The point being there is no easy, miracle technological wonder that will make ‘energy independence’ a reality. At least not in the lifetimes of this blog’s readership.
As for hybrid electric vehicles…..Kevin has blogged adequately on the “I can’t wait to drive my giant electric SUV to the new Green Walmart” mentality of most.
A 1991 Geo Metro gets better real world gas mileage than a 2005 Toyota Prius, and at a fraction of the initial or total cost of ownership, and without the environmental and resource consumption nightmare associated with battery banks.
