University Prepares to Publish Details of How it Created Flu That Could Kill Millions

December 20th, 2011

Is this laying the groundwork for the release of the real one that .mil has probably had sitting around for years???

Flashback: U.S. Researchers Trying to Create Pandemic Avian Flu.

Via: Independent:

A deadly strain of bird flu with the potential to infect and kill millions of people has been created in a laboratory by European scientists – who now want to publish full details of how they did it.

The discovery has prompted fears within the US Government that the knowledge will fall into the hands of terrorists wanting to use it as a bio-weapon of mass destruction.

Some scientists are questioning whether the research should ever have been undertaken in a university laboratory, instead of at a military facility.

The US Government is now taking advice on whether the information is too dangerous to be published.

“The fear is that if you create something this deadly and it goes into a global pandemic, the mortality and cost to the world could be massive,” a senior scientific adviser to the US Government told The Independent, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“The worst-case scenario here is worse than anything you can imagine.”

For the first time the researchers have been able to mutate the H5N1 strain of avian influenza so that it can be transmitted easily through the air in coughs and sneezes. Until now, it was thought that H5N1 bird flu could only be transmitted between humans via very close physical contact.

Dutch scientists carried out the controversial research to discover how easy it was to genetically mutate H5N1 into a highly infectious “airborne” strain of human flu. They believe that the knowledge gained will be vital for the development of new vaccines and drugs.

But critics say the scientists have endangered the world by creating a highly dangerous form of flu which could escape from the laboratory – as well as opening a Pandora’s box for fanatical terrorists wishing to make a bio-weapon.

It seems like a standby of conspiracy theories that the government is planning to release mega-diseases, or nuclear war, or other manufactured disasters. I don’t think the powers that be have specific plans for this.

Instead, they keep these options open as contingencies that they would use if they felt they would lose power otherwise. If everyone in the US were to wake up and stop participating in out political and economic farce, we’d soon find ourselves in some kind of emergency (like a bird flu pandemic) that would keep the wheels turning under the traditional set of rules.

But since the system is humming along as smoothly as ever, the powers that be have nothing to fear, and no reason to take extreme action like unleashing this virus.

    Interesting premise Mr. B…

    “conspiracy theories”

If that particular term had been left the thoughts above might have resonated more strongly.

As it stands, “extreme action” seems a regular feature on display all over the place. From the demolition of three high-rise structures with just two planes to the ongoing destabilization of foreign governments, et al.

Naturally, this is nothing more than another of those unfortunate “conspiracy theories”.

Like JFK. Or the Company’s long and fairly-well documented history of covert funding methods like drug trafficking. Or… need I go on?

This selection on the jukebox seems just the sort of tune all those skeptical skeptics need to hear…

I believe the mantra goes something like: “…if such things were really happening, surely someone would have exposed it by now…”

    Right?

I thought Adam B. was saying that in his opinion deliberate depopulation, etc. was not specifically planned but rather part of a contingency plan.

I think the difference between the two viewpoints depends on how good you think the powers that be believe themselves to be at predicting which way things will go. They may see some future scenarios as inevitable and have planned accordingly (and, within certain parameters, very specifically).

    Adam?

I justrealized that until now I never felt terror…certainly not 9/11, and I was in the U.S. at the time. But now, now I am concerned. Our 12 yo girl leaves after the New Year for a visit to rellies in Moscow and, as I am SURE the PTB have a viral bioweapon, what better time to send it by aerosol than into the Metro during the holidays when people are visiting people? So New Zealand (our home) closes its borders and she can’t get back. Russia declares war on the U.S. for the bioattack and so it goes…. Was interesting reading Kevin’s comments in Feb 2007 almost 5 years back…

“Is it possible that “the terrorists” have become too ridiculous of a meme for even the average imbecile on the street to believe anymore? The problem with 9/11 is that the dust settled too quickly. Uncomfortable questions started appearing way too fast… I don’t personally know anyone who believes the official 9/11 story anymore.

Hell, maybe they’ll throw in Bin Laden for bonus shock and awe value: Flying around on a magic carpet, spraying the Homeland with terrorist cooties and worse. Yeah, that’s the ticket! Why not? That way, They get the effects of 9/11, but it keeps on killing and terrifying people long after the “attack” begins…. You can almost see Cheney’s crooked grin.”
But now of course we have the “melt-down” of the financial system and the dawning recognition of the greatest robbery in history…what better time? I am worried…these are very evil people who want apocolypse…stocking up on intravenous Vitamin C is forst peiority.

Thanks Dennis, you’re right about what I mean. Another example would be during the cold war, when many theorists thought that a devastating nuclear war was planned and inevitable. Personally, I think the only circumstance that would have triggered a nuclear war would have been a grand political awakening in either the US or USSR.

Miraculix, I think that the JFK assassination, 9/11, and ongoing “official” involvement in drug trafficking are examples of how relatively small-scale applications of force can control the political and economic path of the world. In other words, why kill millions on a more-or-less random basis, when killing one person or a few hundreds or thousands will achieve a better and more predictable result? Just as the rich didn’t get rich by wasting money, the powerful maintain their power by using it as sparingly as possible, and always keeping aces up their sleeve.

  6. Miraculix says:

Fair enough, Adam. We can tilt semantic lances all day (and all night) long and the best we’ll likely ever achieve is an “agree to disagree” disposition on certain points. Which would suit me just fine, thanks.

I’m of the mind that such expensive large-scale strategic decisions, while surely capable of serving a contingency role, are undertaken with a great deal of planning and serving the long-term goals of those doing the financing.

As for where this is all headed, I see the less-than-casual use of terminology like “useless eaters” by the technocrats who serve power as a pretty big tip of the cards.

Your observations on the conservative application of power is right on the mark, though. Clearly, you’ve read your Machiavelli. So, we clearly DO agree on some things already… =)
