Footage of a two-year-old girl being run over by a van and lying bleeding on the road as more than a dozen people pass her by has sparked outrage and soul searching in China.

The video surveillance footage posted widely on Chinese social media sites starts with the young girl being hit by a van in a narrow street in Foshan city.

Its driver stops for a short time before driving away, crushing the girl again beneath his rear wheels.

She is left bleeding on the road as passersby walk or cycle around her.

After the girl is hit by a second truck, a woman pulls her to the side of the road and her mother enters the shot.

Chinese hospital staff reportedly told media the girl was now on life support in a deep coma. However, some state media said she had died.

    I shouldn’t have watched that.
As the father of two small girls, it really made me feel sick. Had to cut it.

I will never again be able to read cryptogon without hesitating at completing the headlines. I’ve never been a cautious reader here, just diving into whatever is posted, but I am scarred now.

All the screams that could possibly come out of my body would not be enough to express the horror and panic I am feeling as a result of the 3 words I read of this article’s summary.

Fuck the world. I rescind my membership amongst the wastes-of-space that are the bulk of this apathetic group called humanity. F U C K

I purposely didn’t watch this as I really didn’t see the point. I don’t need to be reminded that the lowest ebb of humanity is on show everyday. It’s always hovering just out of my vision like a dark cloud.

At the same time, you’ll occasionally find the polar opposite of that appalling suffering also occurring in the world. But of course, that will remain unreported and unsung.

it makes you wonder what factors contribute to that kind of world/society. the article mentioned some high profile lawsuits punishing good-samaritans, but i dont think thats really the whole story.

between the massive devaluation of human life and the constant state of dread, im not suprised by the apathy or whatever shown in the vid. its pretty obvious once you look at the body language of the pedestrians walking by. debility, dependency, dread. DDD

my opinion is the massive population density and police/gov corruption has made people so scared for themselves they are to numbed out to act in teh best interests of others, either out of shock or fear. the neurochemical state of the average person is so high stress that the information doesnt filter properly, and anything like this they just revert to obey the authorities mode, even if that means not helping 2 year old kids.

on a side note i gotta say it reminds me of america more than id like to say out loud. wave of the future, new ideals for a new world. goddamn control freaks dont know what hell they reap.

re”but i dont think thats really the whole story.”
China was cleaned up in the 1950-60’s
People who lived it – know to fit in, work hard as directed, no dreams, no books.
That instinct was passed down – problems for you, your wider family, street, work – one simple action – any action and your in for re education. What you had is gone and your papers will link up with that fact for life.
