Hosni Mubarak stepped down as president of Egypt and handed power to the military, bowing to the demands of protesters who have occupied central Cairo for the past three weeks demanding an end to his 30-year rule.

“Mubarak has decided to relinquish the office of the presidency,” said Vice President Omar Suleiman in a statement on state television today. “He has instructed the Supreme Council of the armed forces to take over the affairs of the country.”

I was looking at “Stars Over Washington” today and saw that Mubarak had finally been run out of town. That site sent me to Democracy Now. I don’t know what happened to me but tears were streaming down my face. I’ve never seen anything like this in my lifetime. Feels like a real privelege to be a witness.
The quote at the end of the Stars Over Washington blog, “THIS IS A REAL BLOW TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER-idians” clinched it for me. Yes! The PTB is REALLY now the PTwere.
I know, don’t get all high on nice stuff happening because it ain’t over in Eygypt. But this rocks. I want to savor the day. Go Egypt.
You rock my world. THANK YOU.

Things might get a little better…. A little IS better than none. It seems since “the wall came down” that former Soviet satellite countries are better off now, and mama Russia is worse off.

So where is he? Where is Suleiman? I’m skeptical as to what is really going on behind closed doors.
