Mubarak Family Fortune Could Reach $70 Billion

President Hosni Mubarak’s family fortune could be as much as $70bn (£43.5bn) according to analysis by Middle East experts, with much of his wealth in British and Swiss banks or tied up in real estate in London, New York, Los Angeles and along expensive tracts of the Red Sea coast.

After 30 years as president and many more as a senior military official, Mubarak has had access to investment deals that have generated hundreds of millions of pounds in profits. Most of those gains have been taken offshore and deposited in secret bank accounts or invested in upmarket homes and hotels.

According to a report last year in the Arabic newspaper Al Khabar, Mubarak has properties in Manhattan and exclusive Beverly Hills addresses on Rodeo Drive.

His sons, Gamal and Alaa, are also billionaires. A protest outside Gamal’s ostentatious home at 28 Wilton Place in Belgravia, central London, highlighted the family’s appetite for western trophy assets.

Amaney Jamal, a political science professor at Princeton University, said the estimate of $40bn-70bn was comparable with the vast wealth of leaders in other Gulf countries.

“The business ventures from his military and government service accumulated to his personal wealth,” she told ABC news. “There was a lot of corruption in this regime and stifling of public resources for personal gain.

These stories of the “fortunes” of first Tunisia’s dictator and now this Egyptian douche bag are almost TOO MUCH for me!
Whether or not its true, imagine that guy in Egypt lighting himself on fire because he was humiliated by a female government worker for trying to sell fruit on the street without the proper liscence. That is the front page story. The whole Egypt culture goes crazy over that. I say, yes, I except that, but folks ought to be reading up on the SUEZ CANAL. It’s unbelievable.
We started the wars in Afghanistan and Irag over the “Taliban and WMD.” Turns out the PTB wanted the opium, the natural gas and the oil.
So. Lets just imagine this “uprising” in Egypt is another “war” that the PTB conjured, one way or another to their advantage.
Yes, we have dildoes everywhere in the middle east we’ve been propping up. Hmm. Nothing new here, but check out the Suez Canal folks. The PTB or were are taking their last gasp geographic shot. Yessiree, The Grand Chessboard indeed. Wondering today whether all this protest wasn’t started by a fake CIA agent who knew how pissed off all these people in Egypt were. Fer crying out loud. People who live under the shadow of the oldest, greatest, most awesome structures known to mankind. Seems to me all Egyptians have descended from the originals. Whoever they may be.
We are flucking with the wrong people. The Egyptians are going to rip the world a new orifice. I don’t think anyone should be messing with them.
Ah, and er, maybe we ought to be looking at what role the Suez Canal plays in this “uprising.”
I tried to watch the whole show, but was sort of “celebrating” my solar return. Mixed day with surprises and shocks.

    Worth wathching anyways :
