Greece: Cash Business Transactions Over €1500 Will Be Outlawed in 2011

“From 1. Jan. 2011, every transaction above 1,500 euros between natural persons and businesses, or between businesses, will not be considered legal if it is done in cash. Transactions will have to be done through debit or credit cards”

    Today its 1500, then 1500 between persons, then 1000, then 750 … then 150 … then …

    Fortunately or un, the way things are going in Greece, by 2011 they may not have to worry about cash transactions above 1500 Euros. :/

    In other news, I wonder if that would *finally* be the last straw here in the US – if the govt trying to outlaw cash transactions would finally get people up off their lazyboys and waving sharpened garden implements… a girl can dream.

    All the wtshtf wisdom out there discusses what to do if/when the ATMs go down (ie: have a stash of cash).
    I don’t think I’ve ever seen any discussion of what to if/when cash goes down.

    And here I thought things were just about bleak enough…

    Lived in the 2001 Argentina and had the currency imploded.
    As in low cash out of ATM’s and US cash removed.
