Hasan Known to U.S. Intelligence Agencies; Congressional Requests for Information Refused
November 10th, 2009Via: ABC News:
U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.
According to the officials, the Army was informed of Hasan’s contact, but it is unclear what, if anything, the Army did in response.
Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S. intelligence community, only to be refused.
In response, Hoekstra issued a document preservation request to four intelligence agencies. The letter, dated November 7th, was sent to directors Dennis Blair (DNI), Robert Mueller (FBI), Lt. Gen Keith Alexander (NSA) and Leon Panetta (CIA).
Hoekstra said he is “absolutely furious” that the house intel committee has been refused an intelligence briefing by the DNI or CIA on Hasan’s attempt to reach out to al Qaeda, as first reported by ABC News.
“This is a law enforcement investigation, in which other agencies—not the CIA—have the lead,” CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said in a response to ABC News. ” Any suggestion that the CIA refused to brief Congress is incorrect.”
Investigators want to know if Hasan maintained contact with a radical mosque leader from Virginia, Anwar al Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen and runs a web site that promotes jihad around the world against the U.S.
In a blog posting early Monday titled “Nidal Hassan Did the Right Thing,” Awlaki calls Hasan a “hero” and a “man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people.”
According to his site, Awlaki served as an imam in Denver, San Diego and Falls Church, Virginia.
The REAL point is, my friends, WHY this information was not available and made use of BEFORE the matter had to become a “law enforcement investigation.”
This is a matter of incompetence and dereliction of duty on a massive scale, resulting in the death of 13 people and serious injury to many others.
@Larry Glick
Calm down friend.
This is such a farcial escapade by the MSM.
Cripe, according to the MSM the poor guy was reportedly dead for a few hours before he sprang back to life, and then like every Muslim who is involved with gunfire on US dirt, became an overnight terrorist. Not only THAT, he HAS BEEN TIED to 9/11.
Cripe, the poor guy has been intubated for a few days. Uh, does he get to TELL HIS SIDE OF THE STORY? Probably won’t be given the chance. He’ll be railroaded out of here by so much press that needs something to SENSATIONALIZE to keep people interested.
And then when two or three weeks are up, the MSM will lose interest, and so will we. And then that poor man, who just got blamed for murder, his life destroyed by these effing sharks won’t stand a chance in hell of even getting a trial.
The world has already determined that the man is guilty. But is he? I don’t know.
But it must surely SUCK when gunfire happens and you are the Muslim in the room.
LETS JUST CUT TO THE CHASE: MAKE ALL MUSLIMS WEAR YELLOW STARS ON THEIR CLOTHING.
SO WHEN SHIT HAPPENS WE DON’T NEED NO JUDGE, JURY OR TRIAL.
Send the guilty yellow star off to the gas chambers.
This is what Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George Bush I and II, Dick Cheney, and all fighting with the Muslim world over drugs and oil hath wrought so that they can RULE. Paint a picture of the brown skinned cretins (Muslims and Palestinian’s) that stand in the PTB’s way of world domination. Defile them, blame them, make them into the enemy.
I actually am happy to know Kevin, and others who by their writ, know that that whatever the MSM has written on this case is bullshit. Hah, I don’t think he’s sitting up, drinking champagne, and granting interviews to ANYONE.
That’s why I think it is very important to reserve judgement and not to BRAND Mr. Hasan as a Muslin terrorist.
And, so what if he was? Cripe. We’re over in Muslimland now for almost ten years, slaugherting people for oil and heroin- and who benefits?
The oil angle is pretty clear to me – but the drugs? American soldiers dying to protect the poppy harvest? Not good. Who has the stake in remaining there for a war killing people?
Think they should be exposed by the MSM rather than them acting as the judge and jury on a wounded man who sniffs to me like a scapegoat.
