U.S. ‘Loses’ 190,000 Weapons in Iraq

August 3rd, 2007

Wait a minute, remember Pentagon arms its enemy’s enemies in Iraq:

The US military has embarked on a new and risky strategy in Iraq by arming Sunni insurgents in the hope that they will tackle al-Qaida operatives in Iraq.

The US high command this month gave permission to its officers on the ground to negotiate arms deals with tribal elders and other local leaders. Arms, ammunition, body armour and other equipment, as well as cash, pickup trucks and fuel, have already been handed over in return for promises to turn on al-Qaida and not attack US troops.

So… Hmm. Yeah.

Via: AFP:

THE US Government cannot account for 190,000 weapons issued to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005, says the Government Accountability Office.

According to its July 31 report, the military “cannot fully account for about 110,000 AK-47 assault rifles, 80,000 pistols, 135,000 items of body armour and 115,000 helmets reported as issued to Iraqi forces”.

The weapons disappeared from records between June 2004 and September 2005, as the military struggled to rebuild the disbanded Iraqi forces from scratch amid increasing attacks from Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias.

The more I read into what’s going on in Iraq the more I believe the US Administration has some kind of ‘year zero’ policy to turn country into a lawless Mad Max style wasteland where those with the biggest guns get to call the shots and control the oil.

Throw into the pot a test zone for futuristic weaponry, privatised warfare and multi-billion arms deals to the other ‘players at the table’ and we get a good idea of the shape of things to come.

And all in the name of freedom. I can almost hear the demonic laughter.

The ‘Salvador Option’ has scared the inhabitants witless with millions leaving and others joining militias in a bid to survive.

The Devil himself couldn’t have done a better job of creating a hell on earth.

    Way to go USA!

Notice how the media here in the West defines every insurgent attack as being done by “Al-Qaeda”? And let’s not even get into the revelations that 45% of the group is made up of Saudi’s, that it’s head in Iraq is fictional, and that it has threatened war against Iran after Iran was supposedly supporting and arming them…

“According to the September 1 Manufacturing & Technology News, the Government Accounting Office has reported that over the course of the cakewalk war, the US military’s use of small caliber ammunition has risen to 1.8 billion rounds. Think about that number. If there are 20,000 insurgents, it means US troops have fired 90,000 rounds at each insurgent.”

Remember, al-Qaida is Sunni-based, at least in theory (it’s really a CIA-funded organization). At any rate, this amounts to funding your enemy, not your enemy’s enemy. Very risky indeed.

Looks like a psy-op trying to link al-Qaida with Shia Islam, which is utterly ridiculous.

Well, we can’t just arm our new proxy army, the Sunni Militias. After all, they need somebody to shoot at that can shoot back.
If we could give those 190,000 weapons to 190,000 unemployed, mortgage foreclosed Americans those weapons, I suspect things would change in DC very quickly.;)

  5. Sunni insurgents as “enemy” of “enemy?” I thought they were the original enemy, as in the insurgency, the Baathist dead-enders, etc. The true enemy is Al-Qaeda, in Iraq? Eastasia, Eurasia. Whatever.

    Ozzy,
Watch Bill Moyer’s journal online. He has a great interview with a West Point Instructor and a Middle Eastern Prof. They explain how focusing on Al Qaeda in Iraq is really missing the bull’s eye.

Thats a good one. Talk about TRUE regime change!

  8. Jim Burke says:

Sorry about that, DrFix, sometimes I get depressed.
I know that is no real solution, but I can’t help but thnk that the People need a voice, even if it means resorting to armed insurrection.
