The TR3 is obviously a newer iteration of the technology described in the film. I wonder if the vehicle described in the film is an early model, something they keep around to show various government officials to impress/deceive them, while the real state of the art stuff remains hidden. Imagine a car company indicating to investors that their state of the art technology is a Ford Model T, while they secretly have a Tesla Model S.
