Israeli Settlements Expand by Record Amount

Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories have expanded by a record amount and risk eliminating any practical possibly of a Palestinian state, the U.N. human rights chief said on Friday.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said that the growth of Israeli settlements amounted to the transfer by Israel of its own population, which he reiterated was a war crime. The U.S. Biden administration said last month the settlements were “inconsistent” with international law after Israel announced new housing plans in the occupied West Bank.

U.S. to Construct Pier to Deliver Food Aid to Gaza

In President Biden’s State of the Union address Thursday night, he ordered the Pentagon to conduct an “emergency mission” to expand US humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip – this time using a maritime route. He described that a port will be built by the US military, and will utilize a temporary pier to get supplies from ships to the people of Gaza.
“A temporary pier will enable a massive increase in the amount of humanitarian assistance getting into Gaza every day,” President Biden said, and called on Israel to “do its part” be letting more aid into the besieged territory while ensuring that “humanitarian workers aren’t caught in the crossfire.”
“Humanitarian assistance cannot be a secondary consideration or a bargaining chip,” the president emphasized, after recent tensions with Tel Aviv over blocked aid access at the Rafah border crossing.
A senior admin official earlier told Axios that “The president asked us to look into all options for getting more aid to Gaza and not wait for the Israelis.” Officials have also said the port is expected to take “a number of weeks” to set up. Security inspections of the food, water, and medical supplies will take place in nearby Cyprus.

“New York to Deploy 750 National Guard Soldiers to Check Bags on Subway”

New York Governor Kathy Hochul will deploy 750 soldiers from the state’s National Guard to help New York City police check commuters’ bags in the busiest stations in the city’s sprawling subway system, she announced on Wednesday.
Another 250 officers from the New York State Police and the state-controlled Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police will also join the effort, which Hochul said was intended to deter crime. She announced the deployment in response to recent high-profile assaults on commuters and transit workers.
Sweden Joins NATO

Sweden joined NATO in Washington on Thursday, two years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine forced it to rethink its national security policy and conclude that support for the alliance was the Scandinavian nation’s best guarantee of safety.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson handed over the final documentation to the U.S. government on Thursday, the last step in a drawn-out process to secure the backing of all members to join the military alliance.

Musk: “The Groundwork Is Being Laid for Something Far Worse Than 9/11”

Tesla has halted production at its German factory after power lines supplying the plant were set on fire in an act of “sabotage” claimed by a far-left group.
Emergency services were called early on Tuesday after reports of a burning electricity pylon southeast of Berlin close to the Tesla plant.

Elon Musk has bashed the Biden administration after they admitted to flying 320,000 unvetted migrants into the US.
Musk took to his platform X early Tuesday and said the president’s administration is ‘importing voters and creating a national security threat’ for secretly allowing illegal immigrants in the country.
‘It is highly probable that the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11. Just a matter of time,’ Musk said as he reposted a story from DailyMail.com.
The Tesla’s creators comments comment after a secret Biden program was exposed where the administration admitted to flying 320,000 migrants into the US – but officials refuse to say who was flown and to where.
Lawyers for the administration’s immigration agencies have claimed that revealing the locations of where these undocumented aliens are could create national security ‘vulnerabilities.’
Gold Hits New Record High

Gold hit a record high on Tuesday, with growing expectation of U.S. monetary easing and continued geopolitical risk buoying activity from momentum-driven funds which could propel the precious metal further.
A wider robust fundamental backdrop added support, including strong physical demand in Asia and central bank purchases as well as bullion’s traditional safe-haven cachet. Central banks have been net buyers of gold for eight consecutive months.
Spot gold rose 0.8% to $2,130.79 per troy ounce as of 1540 GMT, after touching its record high of $2,141.59.

Biden Flew Hundreds of Thousands of Illegal Aliens Into U.S.

Thanks to an ongoing Center for Immigration Studies Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, the public now knows that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has approved secretive flights that last year alone ferried hundreds of thousands of inadmissible aliens from foreign airports into some 43 American ones over the past year, all pre-approved on a cell phone app. (See links to prior CIS reports at the end of this post.)
But while large immigrant-receiving cities and media lay blame for the influx on Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s busing program, CBP has withheld from the Center – and apparently will not disclose – the names of the 43 U.S. airports that have received 320,000 inadmissible aliens from January through December 2023, nor the foreign airports from which they departed. The agency’s lawyers have cited a general “law enforcement exception” without elaborating – until recently – on how releasing airport locations would harm public safety beyond citing “the sensitivity of the information.”
Now, though, CIS’s litigation has yielded a novel and newsworthy answer from the government: The public can’t know the receiving airports because those hundreds of thousands of CBP-authorized arrivals have created such “operational vulnerabilities” at airports that “bad actors” could undermine law enforcement efforts to “secure the United States border” if they knew the volume of CBP One traffic processed at each port of entry.
In short, the Biden administration’s legally dubious program to fly inadmissible aliens over the border and directly to U.S. airports has allegedly created law enforcement vulnerabilities too grave to release publicly, lest “bad actors” take advantage of them to inflict harm on public safety.
