FBI Agent Says He Hassles People ‘Every Day, All Day Long’ Over Facebook Posts
March 30th, 2024Via: Reason:
The FBI spends “every day, all day long” interrogating people over their Facebook posts. At least, that’s what agents told Stillwater, Oklahoma, resident Rolla Abdeljawad when they showed up at her house to ask her about her social media activity.
Three FBI agents came to Abdeljawad’s house and said that they had been given “screenshots” of her posts by Facebook. Her lawyer Hassan Shibly posted a video of the incident online on Wednesday.
Abdeljawad told agents that she didn’t want to talk and asked them to show their badges on camera, which the agents refused to do. She wrote on Facebook that she later confirmed with local police that the FBI agents really were FBI agents.
“Facebook gave us a couple of screenshots of your account,” one agent in a gray shirt said in the video.
“So we no longer live in a free country and we can’t say what we want?” replied Abdeljawad.
“No, we totally do. That’s why we’re not here to arrest you or anything,” a second agent in a red shirt added. “We do this every day, all day long. It’s just an effort to keep everybody safe and make sure nobody has any ill will.”

Although it may be premature to declare the nuclear family officially over, the model is beginning to look more like a fringe lifestyle choice than the bedrock of American society.

FBI to Bury ‘Whitey’ Bulger’s File, Agency Rejects Public Records Request
March 28th, 2024Via: Boston Herald:
The FBI is closing the book on the agency’s “corrupt” handling of James “Whitey” Bulger — forever.
The feds are refusing to make any further installments of Bulger’s case file public, saying the records are “investigative” and no longer subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
“The records responsive to your request are law enforcement records; there is a pending or prospective law enforcement proceeding relevant to these responsive records, and release of the information could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings. Therefore, your request is being administratively closed,” the FBI stated in a letter to the Herald Monday.
They did not divulge what investigation Bulger’s case could still be linked to, considering the former Southie mobster was murdered while in a West Virginia prison in August 2018 by two fellow inmates. He was 89 and wheelchair-bound at the time of his death.
…
Bulger was found guilty in August of 2013 in federal court in Boston for the murder of 11 people, as well as numerous counts of extortion, money laundering, drug dealing, and firearms possession. But he took to his grave the dirty dealings he had with the Boston branch of the FBI when he was killing with impunity.
“The whole thing was corrupt from the get-go,” said Janet Uhlar, a juror on Bulger’s 2013 trial. “They put out a lie. He was never an informant, he bought information from the FBI.”
Uhlar, who added she shared 70 letters with Bulger after the trial, said she still wonders what role the CIA had with the serial killer while he was locked up early in his life and submitted to an LSD experiment.
“His mind was manipulated by the CIA and he shouldn’t have been let out into the public,” she said Wednesday. “The other guys were as dirty as dirty could be.”
In an addendum to the FOIA denial sent to the Herald, the FBI states “Congress excluded three categories of law enforcement and national security records” from the public records law. That includes “records of intelligence sources, methods, or activities.” And, they add, the FBI “can neither confirm nor deny the existence of records pursuant to FOIA exemptions.”
It’s as if Bulger never existed.

“I Invested Most of My Salary for 7 Years and Had Enough to Retire at 29”
March 27th, 2024Are we near the top?
Via: Business Insider:
At the age of 29, I reached financial independence to retire early.
After finishing my Ph.D. at 24 in 2018, I worked at Google X, leading AI for secret early-stage moonshot projects. In 2020, I left for a VP role at JP Morgan and stayed with the firm until 2023.
Starting with only $1,000 in 2017, I had aggressively invested my income in stocks and crossed my first $1 million in my late 20s. By 2023, my yearly expenses in the US had become less than 2% of my investments, so I left my job.
Australian Senate Establishes Formal Inquiry Into Excess Deaths
March 27th, 2024Via: Dystopian Down Under:
The Australian Senate voted to establish a parliamentary inquiry into the nation’s excess deaths today, giving the green light to what is possibly the first inquiry of this nature in the world.
One year and five motions is what it took for Senator Ralph Babet, of the United Australia Party, to finally get the go-ahead on the inquiry.
Senator Babet tabled two unsuccessful motions calling for an inquiry into Australia’s excess mortality last March, followed by another unsuccessful motion in February of this year.
Several weeks later, his fourth motion calling for the Senate to acknowledge the need for an inquiry scraped through with a win, marking a shift in attitude within the Senate and paving the way for today’s vote to finally establish an inquiry.
“Fifth time’s the charm!” said Senator Babet in a statement after his motion passed successfully.
“This appears to be a world-first inquiry for what is a global issue. May this committee process give a voice to the family members of the deceased and deliver the answers that our nation so desperately needs.”

The U.S. Army currently has two RAS platoons, one in the 82nd Airborne and one experimental platoon in Army’s Maneuver Center of Excellence.
