Via: Daily Mail:

Costa Rica has declared a state of emergency as it struggles to deal with an influx of migrants passing through the tropical paradise, with more than a quarter million asylum seekers crossing through the treacherous Darien Gap this year to get to the US.

President Rodrigo Chaves said on Tuesday he has ordered officials to declare a state of emergency as the number of migrants passing through the small Central American nation after crossing from South to Central America through the jungle jumped sharply, reaching 386,000 in 2023 alone.

Costa Rica is the retirement community of choice for CIA, FBI, etc. I can’t imagine that migrants would be allowed to inconvenience them. The migrants must travel quietly in narrow lanes. Maybe the ‘state of emergency’ is to bring in troops to be sure they stay in those lanes.

As for the Darien Gap — treacherous? With 386,000 people able to pass through it, even children and babies?
