Russia’s foreign minister Wednesday warned the United States not to take military action against Iran.

“The Russian foreign minister said Wednesday U.S.-led multinational foreign forces in Iraq must not conduct military operations outside the country, including against Iran,” the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

“The multinational force in Iraq should abide strictly by the UN Security Council’s mandate, which does not provide for any operations outside the country,” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the Lebanese magazine Al-Watan Al-Arabi in an interview.

“The escalation of the conflict and its possible spread beyond the Iraqi borders will inevitably result in catastrophic consequences and not for the Middle East alone,” Lavrov said according to the report. “I believe Washington understands this.”

Just today at London Gatwick Fascist Zone (that’s the airport for the uninitiated) I was looking at “Arguments & Facts”, a Russian newspaper. They had a cartoon of Bush dressed in military gear and roughed up by combat looking through icicle-covered binoculars at nothing less than the Kremlin. The associated article went on to speak of a new arms race and a Cold War-esque standoff between Russia and the USA (translations courtesy of my wife).

Iran has successfully started receiving non-USD currency for its oil that it sells. Hello China and Russia, good bye Uncle Sam. Time to light up the hand-held nukes.

Iran’s efforts to switch from U.S. dollar to other currencies in crude oil deals appear to be progressing.

An official with Iran’s oil ministry says 60% of payments are now made in non-dollar currencies.

The U.S. has been trying to prevent overseas banks doing dollar deals with Iran, a move which Washington leaders think could undermine the Iranian economy.

However, Tehran has proved those efforts ineffective by introducing a currency shift in crude deals.
